NoiseFold is an interactive art & performance group founded by artist/programmers, David Stout and Cory Metcalf. NoiseFold blends sound-art, visual-music & noise to perform "LIVE" 3-D animations comprised of visual forms that both create and respond to sound. These abstract visual structures resemble single celled life forms, organic architectures and strange quantum geometries. The performers animate these audio-visual “organisms” utilizing sensor arrays activated with gestural techniques similar to playing a Theremin. The result is a visual-electronic-music-theater where “lifelike” avatars emerge, evolve and emit a startling array of sounds, chaotic rhythms, shimmering melodies and cascading harmonic noise. Stout & Metcalf currently live & work in Santa Fe, New Mexico where they design installations and performances exploring synthetic ecologies, complex bio-mimetic networks & artificial life. ___________________________________________________________________
