Over The Edge will be hosting a special reading in November to celebrate the 2007 Windows Anthology. Windows, edited by Heather Brett & Noel Monaghan, showcases the work of emerging poets, fiction writers and visual artists. The reading will take place at 8pm on Friday, November 16th at Sheridan’s Wine Bar, 14-16 Church Yard Street, Galway (beside St. Nicholas’s Church). All welcome.
Three Galway-based writers - Alan McMonagle, Mary Madec & Aoife Casby – have had their work chosen for inclusion in this year’s Windows. Alan, Mary & Aoife all participated in the Spring/Summer round of poetry workshops at Galway Arts Centre and each of them has been a Featured Reader at the Over The Edge: Open Readings in Galway City Library. Aoife Casby also read at this year’s Cuirt Festival/Over The Edge showcase reading.
Alan McMonagle, Mary Madec & Aoife Casby will read from their work, as will Mayo-based contributors, John Corless & Michelle O’Sullivan. Another contributor to this year’s Windows anthology is New Zealand poet, Ginny Sullivan. Ginny lived in Galway in 2004, during which time she participated in a poetry workshop facilitated by Over The Edge co-organiser Kevin Higgins. Poet Lorna Shaughnessy, who participated in the same workshop, and was herself a contributor to Windows in 2004, will read the poems Ginny has contributed to the anthology.

John Corless writes short stories, poetry and drama. He is a founder member of the Mayo Writers’ Block, a group of creative writers who meet regularly in Claremorris. His poetry and short fiction has appeared in a number of publications in Ireland, the UK and USA. ‘Ag Ullmhú do Cuairteoir’ is part of a series of stories on Irish-offshore island life.

Alan McMonagle is originally from Longford but now lives in Galway City. He writes both fiction and poetry. His work has appeared in Southword, The Cuirt Annual, west47online and Crannog. Last year he took second place in the Sean O'Faolain short story competition and
