NxEW.ca is your source for Canadian music news. We focus exclusively on Canadian music, not because we don't think any other music is good, but because we didn't feel that it was being done properly. Despite the fact that Canada has produced - just in the last decade: the Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Stars, Metric, the Hidden Cameras, the New Pornographers, Ohbijou, Joel Plaskett, K'naan, Crystal Castles, Patrick Watson, the Weakerthans, Feist, Do Make Say Think, Great Lake Swimmers, Dan Mangan, Chad Van Gaalen, the Handsome Furs, Final Fantasy, Caribou, Rock Plaza Central, Land of Talk, Elliott Brood, the Rural Alberta Advantage and dozens of others Canadian music just doesn't get enough love, even in Canada. The reality is that there are hundreds of talented musicians in Canada who most people have never heard of, even the people who live here. We're aiming to fix that.     Society is trying to control and categorize us: We were born into this life to win the prize, of staying in our designated stations, so we can provide battery power to the ant farm. We keep it running, fast and efficiently, so the rich continue getting richer and the poor continue getting poorer. There are so many things that need to change about the world. If more of us focused on making life rich, instead of wasting our time making money so we can buy into our consumer based, material society; we could create positive global change.
