Oba Simba represents perfectly the
new conscious Reggae Roots Music straight from Jamaica. His smooth voice and
sweet melodies take you into a true spiritual meditation. The Voice of the
People is simply the upcoming Jamaican singer/songwriter with tunes such as Lion
Touch, Promises, Hanky Panky, just to name a few.....
His latest single Whistling Bird on
the J'taime Riddim put out by Special Delivery Music is one to watch. Oba Simba
appeared on several releases including “Cellblock Link Up Vol. 1” and “A
Timeless Vibration”, he was a guest at MIDEM 2007 in France where he created a
big impact. Sharing stage with stars such as Shaggy, Etana, Tessanne Chin,
Daville and others. Oba captured the crowd in true contemporary and authentic
reggae style. Highlighting him as a star.
His biggest challenge came though,
when a few months after returning from MIDEM, tragedy struck while working
aboard a survey boat. This took him off the musical scene for more than a year
and although left with a permanent injury to his left foot Oba is now returning
even stronger musically and spiritually and is a true definition of resilience
and determination.
Oba Simba was born in December 1971
at a place call Heartease in the rural parish of St. Thomas but grew up in
Allman Town in central Kingston. He attended Trench Town High school where he
started answering his musical calling, giving hair raising performances and have
not look back since. Oba is also set to make his mark as a producer and
songwriter. His Lacadema Riddim is already blessing the airwaves with “Beat It”
by Lutan Fyah and Spectacular. He is co-writing Sharon Tucker's upcoming album.
It is now time for the world to feel
the vibes of the King of Lion roar- ing with The Voice of the People. “Best
artist Revelation of 2006 from me is OBA SIMBA from Kingston Jamaica with is
nice nice song 'Promises'...” Asher selector (Switzerland) “Alborosie, Nanko,
Oba Simba, Da'Ville, Omar Reid and Shaggy are the icons of the Jamaican music
industry abroad."
Reggae-live.co(France)...................
“Oba Simba built the vibe with strong vocals and a mix of contemporary and
traditional roots reggae."
Jamaica Observer
(Jamaica)................ “He woke the MIDEM's audience up in Cannes and he
appeared on tunes full of good vibes with a voice more than remarkable."
