Obscenus were a band from the Azores (Ponta Delgada) that stars in 1993, under the name Blind Death by the guitar players Ruben Correia and Gonçalo Moniz. By then it was pretty much a Death Metal act, but new influences arrived the following year together with new members Miguel Ramos (vocals/bass) and Marco Martins (drums). Later a keyboard player was found in Tiago Dias. The band’s name changed at this time to Obscenus. Gonçalo Moniz was replaced by Pedro Agrelos, and the vocal duties were taken up by Marco Sousa, handling Miguel Ramos solely the bass from then on. Several live shows followed, including in continental Portugal. Their first demo-tape, ‘Salvatore’, was released in 1996, and the following year a second demo ensued, ‘Nocturnus Exordio’. More gigs followed, including once again the mainland.
