BIO:
Ofeliadorme è un progetto che nasce a Bologna nel 2007, "soci fondatori" sono Gianluca Modica e Francesca Bono.
Le prime sessioni del duo sono prevalentemente acustiche, e prediligono fin dall'inizio arrangiamenti semplici ma ipnotici che si fondono con una voce delicata ma allo stesso tempo forte.
Dopo un'iniziale collaborazione da esterni, entrano a far parte a pieno titolo degli Ofeliadorme anche Tato Izzia e Michele Postpischl.
Con il passare del tempo le atmosfere acustiche iniziano a intrecciarsi con delle incursioni elettriche (ed a volte anche elettroniche) e, all'interno del quartetto, i ruoli non vengono volutamente resi fissi o immutabili.
Infatti sia in studio che su palco le canzoni vedono i 4 membri alternarsi a vari strumenti, alla ricerca del giusto equilibrio tra sperimentazione e libertà esecutiva e creativa. L'anima del progetto rimane così aperta a diverse influenze, frutto sia di una diversa attitudine allo strumento ma anche della differente cultura musicale e curiosità dei vari membri della band.
Nel 2008 il gruppo è stato selezionato per la XX edizione del Rock Contest, storica manifestazione organizzata da Controradio (FI), ed è stato finalista del MEI contest organizzato da Kataweb.
Nel corso del 2009 gli Ofeliadorme hanno anche contribuito, con la versione demo di un loro brano, a 3 diverse compilation di altrettante etichette:
• Series Two Records (USA)
• Canebagnato Records (IT)
• Midfinger Records (IT)
Nel maggio del 2009 esce il loro primo EP di 6 tracce orgogliosamente autoprodotto:
"Sometimes it's better to wait".
La band ha iniziato da poco a varcare i confini nazionali con un primo concerto a Londra, a cui dovrebbero seguirne altri prossimamente, in Uk e altrove.

Ofelia Dorme hail from Bologna, Italy.
The group began after Francesca Bono and Gianluca Modica had known each other, and after some time the pair exchanged songwriting ideas, and were so pleased with the results that they decided to make their project into a permanent affair.
At the beginning they met in Francesca’s house with acoustic guitars, preferring simple and hypnotical arrangements; after some time electric and electronic incursions appeared and 2 new members joined the crew: Tato Izzia and Michele Postpischl.
So they founded the band in 2007.
Inside the band everyone plays different instruments, searching for the right balance between sperimentation and creative and executive freedom.
The intimate dimension of their music can recall the atmospheres of artists such as Cat Power, Nick Drake, Portishead; the most characteristic features of their material are minimalist style, sparse guitars and breathy, flirty, yet strong vocals.
Ofelia Dorme’s music combine a wide variety of influences: the band’s combination of sonic abandon and restraint, haunted mood, is punctuated by flashes of dread and menace. They juxtapose stark acoustic tracks and abrasive indie rock with typically cryptic lyrics.
It’s like the ineffability of a waking dream, the strange beauty and logic of a fairy tale.
There seems to be some kind of narrative thread, but it’s often broken, frayed, with a persistent sense of mystery.
Francesca’s lyrics are combinig raw intimacy with a gruff, chalky confidence, her lines belie an otherwordly perspective on primal human emotions.
Sometimes their music is abstract, but always honest.
The band it’s known for its intimate live shows: hollow-bodied acoustic/electric guitars and plaintive vocals.
After their first live performances in clubs all over Italy, Ofelia Dorme recorded a self-produced EP with 6 songs, titled “Sometimes it’s better to wait”. The band just played London, and wants to gig around Europe, everywhere it's possible.

Il sottobosco musicale italico è pieno di gioielli. Ma di certo questo lo sapete già. Spesso, questi gioielli rimangono lì, magari qualcuno li scova ma non ha la forza o il coraggio di tirarli fuori. Tra quelli in attesa di essere portati definitivamente alla luce ci sono gli Ofeliadorme, quartetto di stanza a Bologna, dedito a sporcare di sporadici inserti elettronici la sostanza elettro-acustica, che non sarà ricetta nuova ma che in questo Sometimes it's better to wait è declinata all'insegna del gusto e del senso della misura...

...Zitti per favore, Ofeliadorme ed è delicatezza fatta suono. E' il paradiso che si cerca nella ascolto di un disco. Questi quattro ragazzi di Bologna in punta di piedi entrano nel salotto intimo dell'ascoltatore e squarciano il silenzio senza distorsione, con una voce suadente e profonda accompagnata da soluzione acustiche e a volte elettrico/elettroniche di rara bellezza...

...Gli episodi forse meglio riusciti sono infatti dove musica e voce sono maggiormente legati (anche se quest'ultima viene appunto limitata da questo aspetto) sono le ipnotiche "New pieces of science" e "6:17 pm".
Godibilissima la canzone che apre l'EP "To Wait" che ci ricorda il periodo "Orchidea porpora" di Lara Martelli, un cantautorato rock carico di intensità e profondità...

Pure i bolognesi Ofeliadorme sono presenti con un loro pezzo nella compilation Canebagnato. E pure loro hanno una delicatezza, o meglio una dolcezza di fondo molto apprezzabile. Solo sei pezzi in questo loro ep autoprodotto, indie-pop-rock fin nel midollo con l’indimenticabile voce di Francesca a trascinare. Melodie ipnotiche come “New Pieces of Science” dal buon ritmo e una macchina da scrivere in sottofondo, melodie più classiche come nell’intima “Bells”, dai fantastici giri di chitarra ed echi Sleater Kinney, melodie psico-rock dilatate/dilatanti come nella fortissima (ti sembra di essere lanciato in aria) “This World”.
Gli Ofeliadorme non dormono. Forse qualche discografico sì. Si svegli, perbacco...

Well this came as something of a pleasant surprise. Italy's Ofeliadorme have released their debut EP "Sometimes It's Better To Wait" on their own label and have very much let the music do the talking. This is darkly tinged acoustica informed very clearly by the aesthetics of post-rock and electronica. The result is almost like a cross between Mazzy Star, Portishead and Bat For Lashes, in short it's gorgeous, sultry, sexy and more than a little dark...

...I think this material is self produced and a huge pat on the back for everyone involved is well in order; some of the best overall sounding tracks i have heard this year. It's the quality of the songwriting and performance that nailed me though and i suspect you'll probably be influenced by them too...

Testi in inglese e suoni convincenti, registrazioni accurate che altro non fanno che confermare il titolo che ci sembra azzeccato. Dal 2007, anno di formazione come duo acustico (e tutt'ora l'ambientazione acustica è quella dove danno il meglio) assieme a Gianluca Modica, solo ora OfeliaDorme giungono a una prova discografica e aspettare è probabilmente stato un bene vista la qualità del progetto che ha un intenso sapore internazionale e che dei quattro membri fa trasparire le certe ottime letture, particolarmente evidenti delle tenui, diafane sincopi di "6:17 p.m.", il nostro brano preferito.

There's elements of Low's slowcore disturbance allied to the minimal raw, otherworldly appealing of the first half of Cat Power's discography, Francesca Bono's vocals between that spooked intimacy and Polly Harvey's force of nature. Dark and mystical, almost spiritual were it not for the fact that there's some quite worrying things going on, it's lilting but not quite lulling anyone into false senses of security.

Ofeliadorme is part shoegaze, part ambient with a shake or two of dark ominous on top. There are the haunting vocals of Francesca Bono that bring the mostly acoustic backing to life – you almost feel like looking at yourself from outside your body, but in a hypnotic slow motion. To call it “moody” is insulting, to describe it as both spooky and beautiful is a start, but to find it delicate with an edge is where it makes a home. Very nice.

...Sei le canzoni qui contenute, che convincono dal punto di vista sia compositivo che degli arrangiamenti, all'insegna di una cura notevole per i dettagli e gli incastri senza però che questa vada mai a discapito dell'onestà e dell'intensità del tutto. ...il nostro consiglio è di segnarsi il nome degli Ofeliadorme, in virtù non soltanto delle soddisfazioni che potrebbero riservare in futuro ma anche di quelle che già oggi sanno regalare.
