CoVet was created as a side project by Michael Areklett , former bassist of the rock band, London After Midnight.
The material began as ideas for London After Midnight, but for whatever reason never materialized into LAM’s repertoire. The music of Covet has been critiqued as dark pop, radio friendly, and having a strong soundtrack feeling, but still maintaining it’s darker roots. The project initially began as a four piece. Much experimentation was done with both sounds and members. Things were completed with the addition of Mick Wrolson as lead vocalist. A prominent face in the local club scene, Mick has come from a varied musical background from “Death-Rock”, Glam, Punk, to Industrial bands with several minor successes, including Suicide Alley, Rakit, and 13th Sky. ..
After several months of collaboration the group was refined down to its core writers, Michael and Mick- utilizing friends and side-musicians they made small public appearances and released songs on MP3.COM. An EP- Demo was released in 2001 entitled “Angel.” With Absolutely no marketing effort, they began to build a following and climb up the music charts solely through quality of songwriting and strength of the material. The first two songs were called “Angel” and “Chemical”. This set the tone for lyrical content and artistic themes present with in the later recordings. The focus being upon an addiction term with a biblical reference. “We all long for success and maybe even fame, but well written music and good melody is something I’m always searching for and attempting to create myself. Join us as we explore the emergent and creative evolution"- M. Areklett. In all aspects however, the focus of Covet remains on the music.
