The Ohms are a hybrid of different Cincinnati bands. They have currently been on the circuit now for 8 years strong. The Ohms started out as experimentation between current drummer Chet Johnson and current Lead Guitarist and Vocalist David Danforth. Danforth was but the young age of 16 when he met Ohms Drummer Johnson. They used to Jam at Johnsons family church and learn Phish and Grateful Dead cover songs. They decided to Invite in Alex Hall from a Jazz band to the mix. The three collaborated on original material and decided to form a band called Off The Cuff. Danforth and Hall knew that Hall was destined for more than to play the bass since he was such a great songwriter and guitar player. Alex Hall turned to one of his friends Tony Scheetz. Tony was an accomplished Jazz bassist with a crafty style and he meshed well with the three after a few practices. They also hired a percussionist by the name of Jeff Waters. After a successful practice they were discussing names for the band when Danforth glanced at the back of his amplifier. "4 ohms" he read. He decided this would be a great name for the band since there were four of them and they could play with the word "Ohms". The Four Ohms took off on the Cincinnati scene and earned a name for themselves along the likes of other local bands such as Noctaluca, Rays Music Exchange, Halius, Acoustic Hookah and bigger bands such as Foreigner, Bad Company, Steel Pulse and JGB w/ Melvin Seals. They found a great keyboard player named Lon Korresell. Feeling unstoppable, the four went to Chillicothe, Ohio to record their first album at the Recording Workshop. After four grueling days the album was finished and "Big White Truck" was completed. The Ohms toured around Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana promoting their album and sold over 5,000 copies at their shows. They lost their bass player Tony Scheetz and eventually hired a new bassist by the Name of Kevin Cooper. The Four Ohms w/ Cooper and Korresel even managed to earn a Cincinnati Music Award for best Jam band of 2006. They changed their name to "The Ohms" and hired on long-time friend and musical companion of the band Noctaluca and Black and Tan Carpet Band "Psycho D". Now, The Ohms, containing its current members Danforth, Psycho D, Waters, and Johnson decided to storm onto the scene and make a name for themselves as not the best jam band, but the best all-around band. They expanded their styles, Danforth created a whole new batch of songs and The Ohms hit the circuit hard in Cincinnati building their name. The Ohms are now currently working on their first new album as a whole. Look for its release in April 2009.
