Oldmanwinter is the brainchild of Tunesmith/Sound-Architect Bret Phillips. Originally from Peters Creek, Alaska Bret started writing songs at the age of 14 and has played in many bands including: The Sound and the Fury, The Field, Lampshade, Johny Spenard, The Marazene Heartbeat Clock and MonoStereo.
Oldmanwinter started off as a studio project for Bret in 2005 as an outlet for more strange and loud soundscapes. In 2007 Bret used the great talents of longtime friend and drummer Dirk Jewitt, bass mastermind Patrick Nelson and guitar guru Riley Plumb to record his first release "an artic circle",(written, recorded and mixed by Bret at his studio wax poetic) coming out on Athens, Ga indie label Headphone Treats in 2008.
Brilliant - we should tell Ryan. We're thinking about dates in Athens, Charleston, maybe Atlanta, Richmond, Asheville, Raleigh Durham, DC... something like that? Love your sounds, talk to you soon.
