In Search of the Primeval Chief Leaf and its Surrounding Sound
While searching for the primeval Chief Leaf a faint notion had brought JP to the treasury of the Bruchhausen Castle. In this very place, she believed actually having seen the leaf while dreaming. She carved a model out of wood and captured the sound of the village.
Meanwhile in Arone and Roseneck some other man meticulously scoured the land. Wasn..t an Old Splendifolia waving over there? FS approached it, no, it wasn..t the Chief Leaf, but the wind released a tune from the plant. It spoke of another primeval leaf researcher FS had never heard of before. Once home FS asked here and there. “JP is her name but, where she is we don..t know, however we know someone who knows.” And so it happened that one day disguised as a traditional letter a printed email arrived at the treasury of Bruchhausen Castle.
“Another primeval Chief Leaf researcher?” JP was thrilled packed her bags, took the carved phantom of the leaf and the sound of Bruchhausen and went back home, for FS lived in the same place as she.
They met, compared notes and examined the collected material. „Too much!” JP exclaimed. Obviously FS had captured and picked up some really essential elements, alas, had put one on top of the other and in the first flush of excitement had added things here and there, leaving everything intermingled. Well this meant meaningful elements had to be carefully distilled from this confused cluster. A finicky job indeed. And while JP listened hard and quietly, checking against her findings, eventually delivering the sheer from the soul-impoverishing tracks, FS prepared a sumptuous feast for both of them.
After all the dragging, dropping and picking the final sound harvest seemed to be meager. However to their surprise from this work a strange and stirring appeal arose. Yes, in their mind..s eye afar they saw the Old Splendifolia, at first swaying softly, then more boldly to the sounds of its old-growth site. Her cup running over, JP finally hummed and sang out loud. Pouring to FS.. ears sounds and tones all immediately blended together, becoming inseparable. JP later on gave shape to words having an almost identical phonetic contour as the sketched sound-patterns. These now tell of the adventures and observations during the search for the primeval Chief Leaf. From here on out they go on expeditions and sound lecture tours together under the name Old Splendifolia.
Thank you so much for adding us! Miracle maker is a brand new myspace
site. We've just started off adapting H.G. Well's "the man who could
work miracles" for the stage. Our intention is to create new original
music, and a script based upon H.G. Well's short story. We'll put up
stuff as soon as we have something new to show. Velcome to follow us
through out this journey and feel free to let us know what you think!
best, Pär - the Miracle maker
M:SOUNDTRACK presents: THURSDAY the 18th of JUNE @ 9 p.m. :: TUNA LAGUNA (Norway) + LIGER (Österreich) + BRENT ARNOLD (U:S:) + DJ Melody Burn
TUNA LAGUNA is a norwegian instrumental rock band focusing on immediate, catchy and groovy tunes. Some people have described our music as "post rock", and like many others that recieve that label we don't really know what that means, but what the hell. Lables are for jam jars ;) LISTEN: www.myspace.com/tunalaguna / tunalaguna.com LIGER is Dino Spiluttini, who played all kinds of instruments in the post-punk-duo Bruspi, hit the drums for the silly metal band Kniff17, currently also makes music as Yeah Pretty Boy and Duran Durandom and runs the label Beatismurder Records and Gernot Scheithauer, who played the Drums and other stuff in Barbarella Plüsch, Mimi Secue and is currently the awesome drummer of Marilies Jagschs band. they have played with acts like Carla Bozulich's Evangelista, Unwed Sailor, Rechenzentrum, Picastro,... LISTEN: www.myspace.com/postfolk
BRENT ARNOLD attacks the cello with fiery intensity and delicate subtlety, with an unconventional approach that often sounds like anything but a cello. He sings his genre-defying songs while fingerpicking the cello like a guitar, pounding it like a piano, or creating mysterious, electronic-sounding tones. His avant-garde yet populist approach calls to mind forebears like Tom Cora and Arthur Russell. He has worked with artists including Modest Mouse, Sleater-Kinney, DJ/Rupture, Lia Ices, Lenny Kravitz, & many more. LISTEN: www.myspace.com/brentarnoldmusic
