With the tide turning in today’s music industry, a new generation of music lovers has been ushered in. No longer resigned to accepting top 40 as standard, this new generation has found a way to download music that speaks to them personally. As a bi-product, this new digital age of music has created artists with more eclectic influences. One such band, One Jack Move, was created with full awareness of such a fact.

“We grew up listening to artists that no one we knew had ever heard before, basically because of programs that let us search out and download songs instead of sifting through albums in the record store. We could now get an email from a friend about a new band, and in a couple mouse clicks we would be listening to them. It was an exciting time, and it made me listen to music that I, in all likelihood, would never been able to find.” Says lead singer/guitarist Dom Pucci.

“I began downloading all types of music, and began developing an appreciation for different genres. I gravitated towards bands that were able to seamlessly combine different styles, such as bands like Sublime and Dispatch,” adds bassist Kevin Hanley.

This became the foundation for One Jack Move. A phrase that literally means, “to steal something.” With the intent to build upon the sounds that their influences created, Pucci and Hanley formed One Jack Move in the summer of 2006 with drummer Michael Ostuni, currently frontlining the band Mad Orchid.

For the next two years, Pucci and Hanley would play cover music by the same artists that they grew up listening to, while writing new material and developing a style of their own. During these two years, they played out as much as possible to hone their skills and live act.

In August of 2007, Dom and Kevin were joined by Adam Cirillo (drums) and Carl Dzienkiewicz (lead guitar) of the band Boycott Lee. After releasing a 6 track EP entitled “Daybreak,” (produced by Michael Ostuni) One Jack Move began touring around New England in support of the new album.

“We saw that bands could primarily use the internet for marketing. This is a huge advantage for us because we’re all pretty tech savvy. We know that if we want people to hear our music and come see us play, we have to be on top of myspace and other such free marketing platforms. Both Kevin and I have gone to school for media and visual communication, so I think we are a step ahead of most bands starting out,” Says Pucci.

While searching for management that fits their personality, One Jack Move continues to play every chance they get while attracting a promising following of young fans that get their music in the same way that they did. The opportunity for word of mouth through the internet has the band excited, and rightfully so.

“Taking into consideration where I came from, and how I heard the music that I fell in love with, it is extremely important to me to create music that is genuine and derived straight from my heart and soul. To me, it is more important to find out what I want to say than how. This is why I try to leave genre aside. I think the sound that we’ve created a caries a deep meaning personally, and I am just excited to share that with anyone who will listen.” says Dom.

Most currently, One Jack Move is working on its first full-length album, "Asphalt Ocean", due out later this fall. Scott White of Darik and the Funbags is helping to produce and the album will feature an extended roster of musicians including work from their newest member, Adam Beliveau of Educated Fools, Northern Routes (drums). Adam will be a part of the writing process as well as the live act and is sure to add some exciting new energy to the band.
