ORIGAMI - band from Russia
Origami formed April 6th 2002, when there first gig took place. On this day they came up with the name «Origami» The five young students united with the idea of playing alternative music with electronic elements. There first year they played consistently in Saint-Petersburg local clubs with similar young experienced bands.
Origami's music at this period was influenced a lot with Korn, Deftones and so on, as well as other old school nu-metal artists. With this learning experience behind them they created a new more mature sound that impressed critiques alike. After the first year all the material was thrown into a trash bin and forgotten.
In 2003 Origami introduced new songs to the public, this created much more interest in the band. Later eight songs were recorded and now are known as «Demo Album ?0». This disc was distributed by the band independently. Nu-metal, emo, punk and electronica with expressive vocal from screaming to a sweet whispering made this band locally popular.
In 2004 Origami started the recording process of its debute album called «When Lie Had Become Truth» and started touring through Moscow. Recording took almost 13 month, in this period a second guitarist joined the band and the keyboard player had been replaced. Theses were the last changes in members for Origami.
«When Lie Had Become Truth» was released in September of 2005 it got massive positive reviews from critics in European part of Russia. Even the usually negative critics were impressed. The popularity of the band and the quantity of gigs raised to a new level. With the release the band consistently starts tours through Moscow, Nijny Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Petrazovodsk and so on. In the summer of 2006 the band records second album «Even Angels Make Mistakes» and then in October it was released. A new quality level and more emotional music put the band in the first place slot as an emo band in Saint-Petersburg and Russia. The Video for "No Superfluos Words" hit the charts of all the alternative Russian channels.
At the beginning of 2007 a DVD "With Your Own Eyes" chronicling everything about the band hits the shop shelves, as well as there 5th anniversary live acoustic album. This band mixes emo with nu-metal, electro and metalcore, calm, expressive vocal, and fills clubs all over the Russia, Belarus and Ukraine that is what Origami is today.
