Pancho-san is a band from the Bay Area, California. It started when Patrick Abernethy began recording songs on a 4-track cassette recorder in the very small apartment he had in San Francisco. The apartment was in an old building that survived the 1906 earthquake, and the floors were so slanted that if a coin fell on the floor, it would roll across the room to the lowest corner.

But, Patrick got out a lot and played guitar and keyboards in Beulah from 2002-2004, after which, he bought a used 8-track recorder and wrote more songs at home. In 2006 he joined Rogue Wave for about two years, recorded an album with them, and toured a lot.

Then, in 2008 it came time to take his cassettes into real recording studios where finishing touches were added to what has become the first Pancho-san album, called "Oh, Mellow Melody". Lots of friends helped out and played and sang on the songs - folks from bands like Port O'Brien, Grand Lake, Beulah, Rogue Wave, Golden Gram, and Sonya Cotton. By the time the record was completed, the band line-up had rounded out with Eli Crews (ex-Beulah) playing bass, and Pat Spurgeon (of Rogue Wave) on the drums.

They are gearing up to play shows in support of the album's release, and are working on new songs also. And Patrick now lives in Berkeley, in a house with level floors.
At a point in time where I can tell you more about the music I hate, and what’s wrong with the state of music and the industry, I’m overwhelmingly refreshed every time and full of hope every time I listen to your music.
