Jon Sebastian started recording songs in the late 90's the same way as so many other indie-rockers of the decade: with a 4-track cassette recorder in his bedroom. Over the years he produced a series of self-released albums and played with a handful of different members, under a variety of band names. In 2008, after settling on the band name Paper the Operator and with a new steady lineup, the band recorded Solemn Boyz EP at Headgear Recording in Brooklyn, NY. Released by Viper Bite Records, the EP received critical praise and exposed the band to a new audience.
Mount Bounty is a collection of demos, studio recordings, covers, and unreleased tracks recorded between 2000 and 2005. With songs ranging from studio-produced rock anthems ("You're Fired"), to quiet low-fidelity bedroom pop ("Stay Sweet"), and from light-hearted fun ("Dirty Limerick") to intensely introspective ("Secret Song"), Mount Bounty paints the full picture of Paper the Operator by uncovering the recent-past songwriting brilliance of Jon Sebastian.
