About me:
--------------------Why did I start insects4sale.com?----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------First, insects are just plain fascinating. I took much joy in building this website and this business because I find insects to be the most interesting of all the animals on earth. They are intriguing because they do amazing things, and they look really cool. For example: some species of ants raise livestock and grow crops, while others wage war and take prisoners as slaves. Honey bees have a language and can communicate through dance. The Titanus gigantius, a beetle from Brazil, can reach the enormous size of over 170 cm or 6 and 2/3 inches while the Atlas moth of Indo-Australia tops a wingspan of twelve inches or over 350cm! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Second, as a child I was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder or ADD. I got bored easily. I had trouble sitting still and focusing on the task at hand. This diagnosis has not changed much since I have become an adult. Operating a power plant, selling siding, installing home improvements, and managing real estate just does not hold my attention like finding a really cool bug and learning about how it lives. With over 900,000 known species of insects, boredom becomes less of a problem. Imagine for a moment, what it would be like if you could make your living doing something that you enjoyed so much that you would probably be doing it as a hobby for free if you were not being paid for it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Third, there is a need for a website and business such as this. After all, have you tried lately to go to Wal-Mart, or one of those so-called hobby supper-stores and tried to purchase insect pins or a butterfly net that is made for someone older than 5 years? Of course they do not carry these things. They are not profitable. After all, we are a rare breed. I don’t know about you, but I do not come face to face with many people that share the same love of insects as I do. To place a decent butterfly net or an adjustable mounting board on the shelf at Hobby Lobby would mean to take up valuable shelf space that could be better used for some lame (but more profitable) hobby like fake flowers or crochet. Well, the internet has changed all that. Today, thousands of “Bug lovers” from all over the world can gather in a single room in cyberspace to share ideas and thoughts and yes, to purchase those once hard-to-find tools and products that help us to pursue our common love for the field of entomology. {}
