Paul Brandt is the most awarded Male Country artist in Canadian history. Not only has his songwriting taken him to the top of the American and Canadian charts, his music has caught the ear of some of the biggest names in the business. In 2003, Paul's first outside cut as a songwriter was a song called "For You" which was written for the Mel Gibson film soundtrack accompanying the epic movie "We Were Soldiers", and recorded as a duet by Dave Matthews and the legendary Johnny Cash. He's played for two Prime Ministers, and the Queen of England, and US and Canadian troops at war. Through his involvement with organizations such as World Vision and Samaritan's Purse, and the USO, he's even played his music for people in Bosnia, Belize, South Korea, Cambodia, and on the continent of Africa. He's been honoured as the CMA's Global Artist of the Year, collected 14 CCMA's, 6 Junos (Canada's Grammy), and is a multi-platinum selling artist.
The Paul Brandt saga continues, this time around coming full circle and landing Paul and his wife Liz back home in Calgary, Alberta. Their recent re-location to Paul's birthplace reflects his long-time desire to be close to family and the place he has always called home. In a span of a decade, Paul's name has become synonymous with Canada, great Country Music, family values, and Alberta's pride, independence and optimistic enthusiasm. As George Strait brings to mind images of the Texas heartland and the quintessential Country ambassador, so Paul Brandt is to Alberta and Canada.
Life is all about risk. It's about jumping in sometimes, even when you can't see the bottom. I think it's not so much about recklessness as it is holding on loosely, and realizing that there's really very little that we control in our lives. My journey in life, love, faith and hope have been a lot like that; jumping in, and through a lot of prayer, help, and support, here I am. With a platinum album on "This Time Around" and the re-launch of paulbrandt.com in 2006, this has been a great year, but I'm looking forward to the future. 2007 is going to be a special year for me, as I'll be celebrating both 10 years in the business, and my 10-year anniversary in marriage to my beautiful wife and best friend Liz. It's going to be a wonderful celebration!
Paul has completed work on a Christmas album in 2006 entitled "A Gift" that brought him across Canada in partnership with Samaritan's Purse in October on a promotional tour. There is also a new Studio album and a DVD project in the works that will include a retrospective of the last 10 years of Paul's career and his rise to superstardom. The new album is being planned for release mid 2007 followed by a National tour. The first single "Didn't Even See The Dust" is set for release in May.
