Just me and my guitar, sometimes a loop pedal and a bag of nuts - but occasionally I perform with stunning vocalist Tracey Braithwaite, percussionista extraordinaire Mat Clements, legendary fiddlestress Vicky Gray and Jugal Bandi maestro Udit Duseja.

"Paul‘s musical talent and diverse vocal range shone through as he made his way through a mesmerizing set of his own funky acoustic songs. As one of the stand out acts from the night Paul wowed the crowd with some impressive guitar work and extraordinary looping techniques, at some points you could have been forgiven for thinking there was a whole band on stage!" www.fondoo.eu

“His vocal dexterity amounted to something approaching a Ginger Baker drum solo.” Lothian Life

Currently based in Edinburgh having moved there in '92 from my home city of Belfast (after discovering the bars were open until 4am), I've been active in the Scottish music scene since then.
With an inability to say 'no' to musical opportunities, I've found myself playing most styles of music from jazz to thrash and dabbling with most instruments. As a result I've gained a wealth of inspiration and a respect for musicianship of all cultures.
Career highlights to date include appearing on Channel 4's James Whale Show as electric bassist of Belfast band X-Presidents, performing at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London with my groove trio Gecko 3, a televised solo acoustic gig in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens, doing 18 Edinburgh Fringe Festival shows (on double bass) with incredible songstress Rosie Brown, playing Djembe in the sell-out African Gumboot Dance Fringe show "A Good Hard Slap!" and a series of acoustic duet or 3-piece gigs as double bassist for the amazing KT Tunstall. In 2005 I was honoured to be invited to sing backing vocals on KT's debut album "Eye to the Telescope" - so you could say I've sold over 4 million albums! ; )
Right now I'm concentrating on my solo material as well as playing internationally with Marty Philip and Hugh Martin as Gecko 3. I'm also working with gorgeous vocalist Tracey Braithwaite and I gig regularly (dbl bass) with acclaimed singer/songwriter Andi Neate.
On the 1st tuesday of every month I co-organise and run an acoustic music club called Acoustic Edinburgh with DJ Simon Kirby, which constantly inspires and amazes by the vast stream of high quality original music that is undeservedly so often under-exposed.
2009 sees the release of 5 studio albums I've been involved with (Gecko3, Andi Neate, Vicky Gray, Douglas Kay and I'll finally be completing my debut solo album.
Hi there, have heard from studio now so shouldn't be long before your beatboxing away over runaway...............................phew what a mouth full. Hope your life is good. I have plenty of inspiration for material due to my hectic life at the mo! see ya x

Damn Paul that clip from Peebles is amazing.Just got back from Michigan and Florida.Spent 6 weeks out there with my man...just awesome...great Harley rides and sweet lakes.Hope it's going good still.Have a good week.:)
I love the growl you can get from of an upright- I'm looking forward to venturing in to the low end's seductive dark side, although how you get one of those things across town without a ford transit beats me!
That's great you have a Tabla set- I was lucky enough to get lessons from an amazing player whilst in India, takes so much more work than other percussion like bongos & congas tho!
Acoustic Edinburgh was great on Tuesday- some blinding bands on the bill! I'll try and make it down to another & come & say hello!
