Just me and my guitar - but occasionally I perform with stunning vocalist Tracey Braithewaite, percussionista extraordinaire Mat Clements and legendary fiddlestress Vicky Gray.

"Paul‘s musical talent and diverse vocal range shone through as he made his way through a mesmerizing set of his own funky acoustic songs. As one of the stand out acts from the night Paul wowed the crowd with some impressive guitar work and extraordinary looping techniques, at some points you could have been forgiven for thinking there was a whole band on stage!" www.fondoo.eu
“…sumptuous playing…” Evening News
“His vocal dexterity amounted to something approaching a Ginger Baker drum solo.” Lothian Life

Currently based in Edinburgh having moved there in '92 from my home city of Belfast (after discovering the bars were open until 4am), I've been active in the Scottish music scene since then.
With an inability to say 'no' to musical opportunities, I've found myself playing most styles of music from jazz to thrash and dabbling with most instruments. As a result I've gained a wealth of inspiration and a respect for musicianship of all cultures.
Career highlights to date include appearing on Channel 4's James Whale Show as electric bassist of Belfast band X-Presidents, performing at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London with my groove trio Gecko 3, a televised solo acoustic gig in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens, doing 18 Edinburgh Fringe Festival shows (on double bass) with incredible songstress Rosie Brown, playing Djembe in the sell-out African Gumboot Dance Fringe show "A Good Hard Slap!" and a series of acoustic duet or 3-piece gigs as double bassist for the amazing KT Tunstall. In 2005 I was honoured to be invited to sing backing vocals on KT's debut album "Eye to the Telescope" - so you could say I've sold over 4 million albums! ; )
Right now I'm concentrating on my solo material as well as playing internationally with Marty Philip and Hugh Martin as Gecko 3. I'm also working with gorgeous vocalist Tracey Braithwaite and I gig regularly (dbl bass) with acclaimed singer/songwriter Andi Neate.
On the 1st tuesday of every month I co-organise and run an acoustic music club called Acoustic Edinburgh with DJ Simon Kirby, which constantly inspires and amazes by the vast stream of high quality original music that is undeservedly so often under-exposed.
In 2008 I've been working on forthcoming studio albums for Gecko3, Andi Neate, Vicky Gray and in October I'll finally be recording my debut solo album.
Just to say well done for the Acoustic Edinburgh thing for the Fringe...me and my friend came to the last one to see Douglas Kay...all the bands were great, really wished I'd managed to see the other 2!
We wanted to get along to the best of Fondoo last saturday but couldnt make it! Anyway I am officially a student now....still down in the borders but hopefully I'll get to more gigs around edinburgh now!
