James Rutledge is a young music producer who lives in London. In the past he has released music on Domino, Melodic, Moshi Moshi, Warp and Wichita and has worked with artists like Dangermouse, Four Tet, Kevin Shields, The Pastels and Prefuse 73. 2007/ 2008 sees the release of his new Pedro album "You, Me & Everyone" with brilliant US label Mush plus a load of remix and production work for bands like Bloc Party, Fever Ray, DNTEL/ Grizzly Bear, Esser, O Children, Radiohead, Telepathe, The Young Knives etc… And a track on the Sean Penn directed film Into The Wild.
Limited cassette The Great Ecstasy of James Rutledge out now.
Vowels "The Pattern Prism" out September.
Loads more to come in 2009.
Here are some nice reviews of the new Pedro LP.
"Takes in Caribou psychedelia and Panda Bear otherworldliness, topped off with free-jazz skronking and hip-hop beats... Resulting in one of the most exciting musical adventures of 2008. 8/10" (NME)
"He's traded in restraint for unchecked bombast. You can forget about breezy flute melodies and judicious glockenspiel sweeps; On You, Me & Everyone Pedro is going for something more assertive and hyper." (Pitchfork)
"I forgot how enjoyable the results can be when musicians embrace their schizophrenic tendencies. Viva la menta illness. 9/10" (Vice Magazine)
"London's James Rutledge has been emerging from obscurity for some time, but now his genius is simply unmistakable." (XLR8r)
