John Varvatos Hosts Road Recovery Benefit
Featuring Performances by Peter Frampton and Denis Leary
To Kick off the New Year at Bowery NYC
December 1, 2009 -- New York, NY – John Varvatos is hosting a benefit concert on January 7, 2010, for the non-profit organization Road Recovery with a one-time performance given by Grammy-Award Winning Artist Peter Frampton and FX’s Emmy nominated Rescue Me star and comedian Denis Leary, along with his band The Enablers. The evening’s concert will take place at John Varvatos’ Bowery NYC store as part of Varvatos’ Thursday Nite Live Concert Series held at the space that formerly housed the seminal underground music club CBGB’s. This special concert will be sponsored by WRXP Radio 101.9-FM, and have spirited headliner Matt Pinfield, and his radio partner Leslie Fram, as emcee.
Road Recovery is a New York City based non-profit organization established in 1998 that is dedicated to helping young people battle addiction and other adversities by harnessing the influence of entertainment industry professionals who have confronted similar crises.
Championing Road Recovery are today’s leading music industry professionals who have dealt with their own personal adversities. In addition to ongoing programs, these music industry professionals act as role models and mentors to help young people through addiction and other adversities. Road Recovery mentors have included Denis Leary, Tom Morello, James Hetfield, KISS, Joan Jett, Slash, Tony Bennett, Christopher Kennedy Lawford, Ozzy Osborne, Charles Grodin and many others.
Peter Frampton and Denis Leary are both fans of one another’s work and charities, and are excited to be performing for the first time together for such a great cause, and in such an iconic place.
John Varvatos is excited to host these two artists performing on one night and he commented, “Road Recovery has been a pioneer and leading force in helping young people find their way toward a healthy future through the power of the entertainment industry. We are honored to have Peter Frampton and Dennis Leary perform, and to be a part of such a great cause. We have had some great performers on our Bowery stage and this event also promises to be truly amazing!”
Joining the program to open the show is Road Recovery’s own house band Crazy James, featuring members who range in age from 15 to 26, and who have been sober anywhere from one month, to over eight years and counting. The members of Crazy James have a wide variety of interests, but what brings them together is their passion for music and a healthy lifestyle. The kids will be performing songs for which they wrote the music and lyrics, and they will be joined on stage by Road Recovery’s creative workshop staff and volunteers.

Peter Produces Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam!
The album COMING UP FOR AIR by Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam was released in June and is on Blix Street Records. More details can be found atwww.davyknowles.com.
Fronting his band Back Door Slam, Davy Knowles, the 22-year-old British guitarist, puts the muscle back into the blues but also offers a progressive, folk-bluesy slant in the new album, Coming Up for Air. And it doesn’t hurt that Peter Frampton produced it! “Davy is very young but he already has got a recognizable style. He’s definitely the gunslinger guitarist of the 21st century,’’ says Frampton. “What a thrill it was to work with him. I feel rejuvenated. He’s a phenomenal talent. He knows just what he’s doing and where he wants to go and what he wants to sound like. I just guided him and gave him ideas and shared my experience, but he brought it all to life.’’
Part 1 of the exclusive Peter & Davy interview footage is featured right here, only available on Peter's MySpace page!! Part 2 coming soon!
GUITAR HERO 5, featuring "Do You Feel Like I Do?" is NOW AVAILABLE!
PETER FRAMPTON Grammy winner for Fingerprints
Fingerprints, Frampton’s most successful album in almost two decades, was up for two GRAMMY® Awards—“Best Pop Instrumental Album” and “Best Rock Instrumental Performance” for his cover of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun.” “30 years ago, I got nominated for another record,” Frampton says. “I didn’t get that one as the pop star, but today I got this one as the musician.”
In a career full of accolades, Frampton is particularly proud of Fingerprints: “This has been the CD I’ve been waiting to make all my life. Every track has been a wonderful challenge, pushing me to raise my own bar again and again.”
With a stellar cast of players, Frampton traverses a diversity of material on Fingerprints, from American soul to Latin balladry and all-out rock tunes. To help bring his childhood musical dream to life, Frampton invited Rolling Stones Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman to play on “Cornerstones”; original Shadows members Hank Marvin and Brian Bennett to perform with him on “My Cup of Tea”; and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready and Matt Cameron join him for a cover of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” and the original “Blowin’ Smoke.” Frampton’s core band on Fingerprints features longtime collaborator John Regan (bass), co-producer Gordon Kennedy (guitar and backing vocals), Arthur Stead (keyboards), and Shawn Fichter (drums).
As a follow up to the release of the 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of the landmark Frampton Comes Alive in 2001, Universal Music Enterprises released the acclaimed Frampton Comes Alive II on January 30, 2007. The album is available in expanded Special Edition 2-CD set, containing 40 minutes of unreleased music. Recorded at the Fillmore in San Francisco in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the first recording on Frampton’s seminal 1976 live album, Frampton Comes Alive II will be available—for the first time ever—on DVD.
