THE PET GHOST PROJECT: The Great Satisfactory
"I cannot neglect to mention the out-and-out D.I.Y. feel of The Pet Ghost Project. No expenses were wasted in the creation of The Great Satisfactory, and while this may turn some listeners off, it strikes a true chord in me. The fact that a so complex and far-reaching album would be wrapped in a simple cover speaks volumes to Stivers’ confidence in the pure content of his sophomore album. That confidence is warranted." ------->Independent Clauses.

"Justin Stivers rock sense is imaginative with alliterative choruses and dashing noise sculptures fitting righteously alongside his singer/songwriter poise. Somewhat simple songs turn out to be rather complex and dense as you listen to them the second time around—he doesn't evolve a song around easy to follow tempos and is not afraid of risks."----------->J-Sin, Smother Magazine

THE PET GHOST PROJECT: Cheer Up~it's Raining
"Justin’s music is layered with rich harmonies and interesting instrumental choices, and resembles everyone from Animal Collective to the Elephant Six bands to the dB’s, while aping none of them."------>NYC Taper

"Their indescribable, shapeshifting sound is quite admirable. Writing quality, lush post rock-ish complex pop, the Pet Ghost Project offers dynamic, sharply changing moods on each of their offerings from 'Cheer Up - It’s Raining'."------->the decibel tolls

PET GHOST PROJECT: The Wordless Conversation

"it’s hard to throw in the kitchen sink and pull off a listenable record. Not only does Pet Ghost Project pull it off, Justin Stivers does so as a one man band. Stivers (as Pet Ghost Project) continues to reach and grasp for more and more … someone needs to wake up and sign this guy."------->Consequence of Sound

"Listening to the EP, it’s almost unbelievable that just one person could come up with all of this. Stivers is a true composer, orchestrating each sound as one piece of a larger puzzle, never overindulging in a single element. His palette is impossibly broad..."--------->Jezebel Music

   About pet ghost project
Justin Stivers first meshed a lo-fi sound with hi-fi imagination first in Seattle, Washington. And after a stint recording and gigging in down the west coast, this multi-talented musician, composer and singer made his way to the hot-bed of music known as Brooklyn, New York. Now with 4 full LP’s and one EP under his belt, Stivers continues to meld countless layers of styles, genres, moods and dynamics to create a musical experience unlike any you’ve ever heard.

Often compared to Animal Collective, Neutral Milk Hotel, Brian Wilson and Built to Spill, in the studio, Justin Stivers’ Pet Ghost Project is a one-man sonic wrecking crew. He creates patterns, moods and waves of emotion through sound. He pushes barriers and knocks down the walls of traditional music. When he composes, he departs, isolates, and let’s it all out layering sound upon sound into works of art that take the listener on a musical journey. On stage, he employs the help of multi-instrumental talents Justin Gonzales and Jake More to churn out a sound that’s a bit more raw, but nonetheless just as powerful, all of them taking turns playing percussion, guitar, bass, keyboards, to recreate the sounds that Mr. Stivers crafts.
