..My name's Dean O'Loughlin. I write and perform songs under the name Heavy head. My debut 'gig' was to half a dozen housewives in a local launderette when I was six years old in 1971. Though my set comprised of 'Delilah' and 'Please Release Me' sung over and over again, I didn't care and I sang my little heart out. Grinning ladies stopped drying their linen and clapped and cheered and gave me pennies. On the way home my Mom made me share my money with my four sisters; a deal I had trouble working out at the time. In 1991 I signed my first deal when my band was picked up by One Little Indian records. We went down well in the States and I found myself in San Francisco for a while. I was still there a year later when I got the news that we had been dropped by the label, who promptly went on to sign Wendy James and half of late 80's boy band Bros. I had trouble working that deal out too. In 2001 I had a super-weird year when I appeared on the reality TV show Big Brother 2 and music-wise I was hammered. After emerging to a brand new tabloid-revved-up world I became convinced that no one wanted to hear my introspective acoustic ramblings. I entered a kind of self-imposed exile and stopped writing, singing and playing altogether. Then, in January 2005, four years after my guitar went into the loft I was invited to play at the excellent Cobden Club in London. As I sat on stage strumming away I realised what a fool I had been: The little launderette crooner had the right idea, no matter what anyone else thinks you've just got to get up there and sing your little heart out. So then, this is for him.And this is for me. This is Phony. [This profile was edited with the kind help of Thomas' myspace editor™ V2.5] Please visit my personal space @ www.myspace.com/phonydean x

Hello everybody, I'm looking forward to play 3 really nice gigs in the UK this week! This mini-tour will bring us to the Stables in Milton Kaynes, the County and Station pub in Matlock Bath and Town Hall Arts Centre in Selby. Looking forward to meet you all! :-))) Cheers, Agnes
Thanks for dropping by Dean and congratulations on the new family member...it's a wonderful feeling init mate. By the way, was good to see you back in the house the other week, I bet that brought by a strange feeling eh ? :-)
Keep up the good work dude, love your music. Best wishes...
Always great when you update your player mate as I know I'm in for a treat...and what a treat it was to find 'Deluxe'...I asked you for this track last year but didn't know the name. I'm so pleased to hear this again, it brings back the memories. Fantastic chord sequences. Absolutely love it.
Great to see 'Parade' back too. The third version I've heard now. I really hope you don't mind me saying this dude but, I still prefer the first version I heard(the one before the previous) as I think you sing it best and I think the bassline sits better. Always love the piano out-tro though and this one's best.
I see you've re-tracked 'Another way to kill me' and what a fantastic job too. That low low bass really fits in mate and that soft snare is just perfect not to mention the cool new vocals.
Brilliant mate...keep up the great work. Hope life is being good to you. Best wishes...

"Just as unhurried as it is precious and reflective. The atmosphere is serene; you’ll pick
every word that is uttered and find a world that normally goes at a million miles an hour
slow to a relaxing canter. "
Oh ok, not to worry! It was the old cd with Deluxe, Clay, Alphamale etc on it - I reckon I must have bought it in about 2002? Thanks for trying anyway! Hope you're well. ~D~
Any chance you could put a picture of the cover of the first Phony CD on here (the one with the mauve strips at the top and bottom)? I need it for my ipoddy! I know it's a big ask - not to worry if ya can't! Hope you're doing well bro!
