Great review of Become Secret in Exclaim Magazine 'Citing Cormac McCarthy's post-apocalyptic tome, The Road, as inspiration, Picastro conjure an appropriately haunting audio landscape with Become Secret. An oppressive atmosphere manifests itself through gaunt arrangements of cello, piano, guitar and Liz Hysen's lonely voice. Tension rises and ebbs, with the occasional murmur of electronics or briefly squalling stab of electric guitar'
Great article in Eye Magazine 'It’s been over a decade since Liz Hysen first introduced the beautifully unsettling sounds of her Picastro project to Toronto. In the time that’s elapsed, the group has gone through massive changes — constant lineup shifts, record-label changes and reconfigurations of the strange instrument sounds that surround Hysen’s magnificently cloudy voice'
Thank you for this pittoresque music. Thinking about diving deeper into it. See, it's like sitting in a (musical) blimp. Maybe someone already said it, but it sounds like autumn seen through windows.
