About me: In the time when the flower children screamed for peace and The Beatles rocked the stages, a gentleman named Gene Stiles bought a piece of
land on the Killington Access Rd. where he erected a small lodge and a cafeteria style dining hall named the Sugar Shack. The Sugar Shack quickly evolved into a dance hall for kids creating the first opportunity for live band entertainment. The stage rocked for several years.
Gene then leased the building out to Billy Shea. Shea turned it into the showcase East and for two years served libations and movies.
In late November, 1971, a man by the name of Jack Giguere targeted the front of the Showcase East with his Mercedes-Benz. With a chuckle, Gene called Jack in his hospital room and joked "that is a hell of a way to knock the price down!"
