Plane are a fantastic Chicago-based troupe who's third LP I See Love In The Future, somehow successfully navigated it's way from the windy city to the clammy utopia of Manchester, postal strikes and all. Having released two albums to date - 2004's Shake My Ground, followed a year later by the critically acclaimed Hello, More, the band, who's talent far outweighs their recognition received present us with a healthy and eventually bi-polar mix of British-influenced chops........................
Being of the real second City, it's always a pleasure to come across material from yonder that's been influenced by folk from here, not that it's a rarity of course, but still. The first thing you notice about this record is the quite obvious and absolutely unashamed Joy Division stamp. Right from the opening riff of 'Blood on the Waves', a wholesomely Northern cousin of that on 'She's Lost Control', to lead singer Edgars Legzdins rolling monotone vocal, you're drawn in by their new yet old sound. 'Under One Moon', carries on in much the same light musically, a similar heavy intro though this time leading into a more upbeat and catchy New Order-y soundscape. At this point then, however happy you might be with the record thus far, you think you have an inkling where things are going, and to be quite honest I'd have been more than happy with the same for dinner, tea and supper, to boot. What an about-turn then, when three songs into this already fantastic record, the title track completely takes you by surprise, being as much Shout Out Louds as anything M1. It's a complete change of tact and an absolute juxtaposition from the two opening offerings......................
I tend not to buy albums nowadays, and to be honest I'd forgotten how rewarding they can be. This record has reminded me how much I used to enjoy buying LP's, in the days when, shock horror, that's what people did...............

May Peace be your gift at Christmas and your blessing all year through!!!
& remember that there is no ideal Christmas....only the one Christmas you
decide to make as a reflection of your values, desires, affections,
traditions...
So probably that is the reason we all go so haywire at Christmas time with the
endless unrestrained and often silly buying of gifts is that we don't quite
know how to put our love into words /Harlan Miller/.
Peace on earth will come to stay, When we live Christmas every day....so I wish
a merry Christmas to u^^

Hey we really like your style!! We bought I See Love In The Future about a year ago! Loved every song! the other albums were great but had a few fill in songs, but I See Love In The Future was flawless.
I really think you would enjoy our style as well. You like Joy Division, The Cure, New Order, Depeche Mode, and Jesus and the Mary Chain. those are all some of our big influences as well. let us know what you think.
It would be really cool if one day we could play a show together. My dad was actually born in Chicago. We're cubs and blackhawks fans.
Great sound, love it. I've been listening to electro and the likes for so long that it's refreshing to hear some change in styles. Glad to throw Plane in the mix...
