No, Rachel did not come up with the name. Brad came up with Plot Against Rachel as a joke and a tendon-snapping Applause-O-Meter test at a show sealed the deal; the band was officially named.
Brad and Ryan first met in 2002 through Craigslist when Brad's band was looking for a drummer...oh wait, I mean a guitarist. He was a quick study and a nice enough guy so Brad allowed him into the hallowed santcum that is our recording studio practice space. (If you question the "hallowed" Brad is very serious about his eqiuipment and you should apologize.) Their goal for the musical project was the "anti-jam" band in which all band members would sing, and they started composing math-y melodic indie rock songs.
The band has gone through several lineup changes, including Rachel joining the band first on the keyboard playing a few little melodies....and then covering the bottom end with the Rhodes electric piano. Then everyone started singing and lo, a real live band!
Ben Patel joined in early 2005 on the drums, helping PAR write new songs and laying down drum tracks iyou can hear on the tracks on this site (from our EP on Abandoned Love Records). Ben's other career took him out of state, strangely precluding him from playing shows with us.
Jeff Brown joined the band in late 2006 and brought his percussion skills and training to the table and has helped move the band's music to another level. PAR is booking shows and radio appearances and the first CD was released on Abandoned Love Records (http://www.abandonedloverecords.com/) March 13, 2007.
We have finished and recorded 9 songs for our first full-length album, which is currently being mastered. We will unveil the album at a CD Release Party in Spring 2009.

Rad new tune guys, I can definitely hear the Broken Social Scene. I like the mix of the two voices and the rad breakdown. Keep up the good work, if you're in Seattle lets get a show going.
