Pomomofo are three electropunk psychopaths raised by the Chicago Bulls, Patrick Bateman and Alfred Jarry's "Ubu Roi".
Our first EP was based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel "Less Than Zero" and we toured it to the Homebake Festival, the Good Vibrations Festival 08, and with acts including Cassius, Midnight Juggernauts, the Presets, Cut Copy, Sneaky Sound System, Cornelius, The Faint and Hadouken.
Our second EP is called "In Super VGA" and we toured that around to the Good Vibrations Festival 09, the Playground Weekender Festival, and with acts such as The Rapture and Crystal Castles, before settling down to write the album of the millenium, which we're doing now. Along the way we collaborated with director and Renaissance man Quincey Beaufort for the "Island" video, as well as cut-out animation wunderkind Dave Carter for the "Tamagotchi Girl" video. We like videos.
We've been remixed by Boy 8 Bit, the Toxic Avenger, SymbolOne, Groove Terminator, Art vs Science and Quincey "Bombs" Beaufort. We have remixed Anoraak, DJ Cat NYC and our friend the Bedroom Philosopher. We like remixes.
We also like covers. Our screamotech version of Laid Back's "White Horse" which we did for Spanish blog Buffet Libre got downloaded 200 000 times. Our cover of Earth, Wind and Fire's "Let's Groove" comes in at 165 beats per minute and is illegal in 12 states.
Occasionally we DJ too. We have DJ'd at Sydney's best clubs including headline sets at Home, Moulin Rouge, Oxford Art Factory, Club 77. We spun discs at Jamie Oliver's "15" restaurant opening in Melbourne. We've done a bunch of mixes for Triple J's MixUp. We refused to play The Strokes at Purple Sneakers and never played there again but these things happen.
