Poor J is a two-man musical act that truly loves music. Made up of Irish-native, Eoin McCarthy, and Wisconsin-native, J Wolf, the two have been playing together officially as “Poor J” since 2005. Eoin and J have been involved in other music projects together since 2001, and their collaboration, interaction, and communication on stage is near unparalleled among many other bands today.
“Poor J’s” music blends a unique acoustic sound to make them one of the more inventive and fun acts to hit the Midwest. Both musicians each draw influences from completely different musical scenes that end up forming a veritable melting pot of sound. The band's high-energy, emotionally driven music resonates with complex, hypnotic, and unique percussion, along with striking harmonies that make them truly, one-of-a-kind.
Their live performances bring the audience members in, as if to make them feel like they are part of the band. A live “Poor J” show has been described as, "…An acoustic show with the energy of a punk band."
