Slick talk, fly walk, let the legend begin. So starts the story of Portable Payback. Comprised of Soup and Marc 7 formerly of the world famous hip hop group Jurassic 5. The two connected musically on the recording of of J5's Power In Numbers album on the song "High Fidelity", the song really opened the door for us to say to ourselves, "Hey we have a great vibe as a duo" say's Marc 7. Musically we have no limits as Portable Payback and are free to go into and explore all types of beats and concepts as well as lyrical content" say's Soup. With Portable Payback the sky's the limit for the duo and their soon to be released full length album will prove their point.
Soup got his first taste of the music business with the group Rebels Of Rhythm alongside high school friends Akil and Afrika. Marc 7 got his start with the group Unity Committee. The two groups met in 1993 while frequenting The Good Life Cafe. After many suggestions that Unity Committee and Rebels Of Rhythm work together, they finally connected and created the now classic song Unified Rebelution which would birth the group Jurassic 5. The independently released Gold J5 EP secured them a deal with Interscope records as well as Gold and Silver status overseas. The certified Gold Quality Control album in 2002 stamped their arrival to the industry. Power In Number in 2004 made a huge impact as well as their final album Feedback.
Soup and Marc 7 have toured the world several times over performing at the worlds most important and exciting music festivals - Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza 2003, Australia's Big Day Out, The UK's Reading and Leeds Festival, and Japan's Summer Sonic, just to name a few. They've shared the stage with musics greats including - A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, Lauryn Hill, Cee-Lo, The Roots, Green Day, Janes Addiction, Dave Matthews Band, Sum 41, and were the only Rap group to perform on the hugely successful Vote For Change Tour with Bruce Springsteen. Armed with immense talent and a arsenal of quality material these two globetrotting MC's are ready to yet again tour the world and show what "PORTABLE PAYBACK" is all about.

Thanks for the reply-comment, guys. Most appreciated! Can you do me one future-favor...if possible? Of course within the realm of your talents and the executives monitoring the next move made.
Congrat's on the new project, guys. Sounds fresh-2-deff! Kinda' like an updated Camp-Lo sprinkled with Martini & Rossi sipped out of plastic cups with Deltron 3030 bartendin'. Smooth all the way around, but with REAL heads at the helm!
Glad to see that something left of J5 is still going strong. Sad to see you guys break up, but things end and you get on with it and live life. Jayou Remix track was off the hook, I'm still stuck on listening to Quality Control and Power In Numbers. The lyrical capabilites of Soup, Marc, 2na, Zakir are untouchable. The only person I can think that can come close is Tech and Del. Mad props and loving this new album. Mad love from the 360 make a trip out the the Northwest and I might just die. Peace.
yo, i just downloaded the EP off of Zune Marketplace, and let me tell yah. my good this shit is banging.
the sound is coming out so freely, i am feeling now that you guys were bottled up creatively working through j5. this album seem to really set you guys free no boundaries. i am loving the sound. this thing just seems very thought out. planned out nicely, each beat and sample and sound seems to be laid down with a purpose.
very nice. you guys just jumped right to the top on this one! keep up the good work. and cant wait to see you guys live sometime! can;t wait for the full album.
one thing, do you know where i can find info on the album, the credits. i like looking at that stuff to see who worked on the album with you guys. now with this downloading there is no more cd jacket to look through.
everything you guys have ever put out has influenced me in some way. all the way back from rebels of rythm, unity comittee, through j5 up til now. all very inspirational music. very many thanks
