Portrait of Another is a rock band that has its roots in Charlottesville and Virginia Beach, VA. With a variety of influences from the Police to U2 to Jars of Clay, Portrait has combined the spirit of a singer/songwriter with the strength of a rock band. While their high-energy live performances show off the band’s versatility and raw talent, they are perhaps best known for consistent musical and lyrical depth in every song they write.
Portrait released its first full-length album (Self-titled) in the spring of 2005 under the direction of Matt Goldman (Copeland, Anberlin, Cartel) and Justin Rosolino. The album reflects the eclectic yet coherent songwriting and sound of Portrait, with an occasional nod to their many influences.
Portrait of Another's live performances, vocal talent and innovative melodies on keys, electric violin, and guitar have earned them a committed following across Virginia and beyond.
In the Fall of 2007 Portrait announced that they would no longer be performing as a band and they played their last show at Alley Katz in Richmond on September 8th.
