Sounds Like
Other people say we sound like...
"...that place where folkpop meets highly-crafted, gorgeous guitar pop" (The Big Takeover)
"...simple, ramshackle melodies, gossamer guitar lines and atmospheric textures... a dizzying delight." (Baltimore City Paper)
"...restrained but nonetheless infectious indie pop... a bit like Red House Painters or Idaho." (Palebear)
"...the final album Elliott Smith should have made." (75 or less)
We're a band from Baltimore. We're currently taking an extended hiatus from performing. What may happen in the future is anyone's guess.
NEW MUSIC! Two new releases with new Private Eleanor music on them:
1. The Beechfields Record Label's new compilation, called This City of Neighborhoods, features two never-before-heard PE recordings that we're quite proud of (you can hear one of them on our player), and it's free! Get yours here. (Or order any Private Eleanor CD from our site and we'll throw one in.)
2. Love Goes On, a tribute album to Grant McLennan of the Go-Betweens, is still available from Rare Victory Records. We contributed a cover of the title track. We were honored to be chosen to be a part of this tribute, and to be alongside so many other great bands... Worth checking out.
--++{ FIVE-DOLLAR CDs! }++-- Buy Private Eleanor CDs directly from us for only $5 each! We'll even ship them to you for FREE (within the U.S.)! We're not getting any of these re-pressed, so buy them now before they're gone for good! Go here to order!
Hey bands: We're NOT actively booking shows. Messages about shows sent to this myspace account will probably be ignored. Thanks for understanding. If you want to give it a shot anyway, or to talk to us for any other reason, feel free to email us at privateeleanor -at- gmail -dot- com.
OUR LAST RECORD, Sweethearting, is out now! It was recorded in the fall of '06 at Inner Ear and Silver Sonya studios in Arlington, VA, with the help of TJ Lipple (Aloha), Chad Clark (Beauty Pill) and Devin Ocampo (Beauty Pill/Medications). It has eleven songs. We are very proud of it. You can read some very nice reviews of it here, and then buy it from us for only $5!
Download free songs from our older records, and find useful and fascinating information about us, at privateeleanor.com.

We'll be on the road a bit after that playing some shows in Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Come wish us luck.

Greetings from the very HOT Los Angeles harbor! We wanted to make sure you came by to preview the newest songs on our player....like you did on your heart-felt cover of "Love Goes On," your fellow contributors have done a awe-inspiring job of showing the world the influential power of Grant and the Go-Betweens!
Your cover of the Go-Betweens' "Love Goes On" is nothing short of incandescent. It totally made my day...Along with all of the other songs on your page. Hope to see you out here in Portland sometime.
Just got my new issue of Magnet and the compilation CD and "lo and behold" there you are...Track #3 -- excellent! Clearly one of the best of the 20 tracks on the disc. Nice job...
