Sounds Like
Other people say we sound like...
"...that place where folkpop meets highly-crafted, gorgeous guitar pop" (The Big Takeover)
"...simple, ramshackle melodies, gossamer guitar lines and atmospheric textures... a dizzying delight." (Baltimore City Paper)
"...restrained but nonetheless infectious indie pop... a bit like Red House Painters or Idaho." (Palebear)
"...the final album Elliott Smith should have made." (75 or less)
Private Eleanor is/was a band from Baltimore. Between 2002 and 2007 we made four full-length albums (as well as assorted singles, limited-run CD-Rs, compilation tracks, etc) and played lots of shows around the country. Some of those albums are still available, both on CD and digitally. We currently have no plans to perform or record again, but who knows what the future may hold?
NEW! Austin has a new solo record that is available as a free download at his new website, AustinStahl.net. Go download it now!
--++{ FIVE-DOLLAR CDs! }++-- We still have a few CD copies left of each of our last 3 records. You can order them directly from us for only $5 each! We'll even ship for FREE within the U.S.! Go here to order!
--++{ DOWNLOAD US! }++-- All four official full-length albums (including our rare debut Deciduous, which has been out of print for 5 years) are now available digitally! Check out our new digital store at http://privateeleanor.bandcamp.com: all albums available as high-quality files on a pay-what-you-want basis.
Compilations: Also still some copies left (we think) of two compilations we were featured on:
1. The Beechfields Record Label compilation, This City of Neighborhoods, features two never-before-heard PE recordings. Get a free copy here. (Or order any Private Eleanor CD from our site and we'll throw one in.)
2. Love Goes On, a tribute album to Grant McLennan of the Go-Betweens, is still available from Rare Victory Records. We contributed a cover of the title track. We were honored to be chosen to be a part of this tribute, and to be alongside so many other great bands... Worth checking out.
Hey bands: We're NOT actively booking shows. Messages about shows sent to this myspace account will probably be ignored. Thanks for understanding.
OUR LAST RECORD, Sweethearting, is still available! It was recorded in the fall of '06 at Inner Ear and Silver Sonya studios in Arlington, VA, with the help of TJ Lipple (Aloha), Chad Clark (Beauty Pill) and Devin Ocampo (Beauty Pill/Medications). It has eleven songs. We are very proud of it. You can read some very nice reviews of it here, and then buy it from us for only $5! (Or at iTunes, if you are so inclined.)
