Hey man! I couldn't make it last night. I had to work until 11 and then I got home and was exhausted. I hope all went well. I will make the next one. Give me advanced notice so if I have to work I can get someone to cover for me. It's been awhile since I've had a Progressive fix! I need to get out!

Presents:

Things that go bump in the night;
A barefoot stroll though the minefield.

Garrick Dorsett: Artist
Mixed media

Opening reception with the artist Friday August 1st 7-10pm
Light refreshment and live sound sculpting
Exhibit is on view by appointment only Saturday August 2nd through Sunday August 31st 2008

Artist Bio:

Garrick Dorsett received his BFA in 1999 from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. After graduating, Garrick continued to work as an artist with his primary medium being photography. In 2003 he completed a long-term project photographing the bicycle couriers in Philadelphia and other underground subcultures of the city.

A lifelong interest in graffiti art has inspired his more recent work with an emphasis on the medium¢s context and impermanent nature. Lately, he has started to collaborate with the multi-media group ColorMake from the Central Pennsylvania area. These young and upcoming artists have also influenced his recent work.

Garrick has exhibited his work in various venues including the Genus Loci Gallery in Cape May, New Jersey, the Philadelphia Art Museum, One Pixel Gallery, and the Sandy Webster Gallery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the Exit Art in New York, New York. His work has been published in magazines and books such as Thrasher Magazine, the International Book of Photography and the Korean publication Photo Monthly.

Garrick Dorsett currently resides in the small town of Dauphin, Pennsylvania, where he continues to photograph and grow as an artist. He holds the position of Photographic Educational Specialist at Harrisburg Area Community College and also teaches photography as an adjunct faculty member. He is an avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast.

I would like to say thank you to Dan Colavito for setting up this site for me (www. garrickdorsett. com) and to Eleanor Sokolow for making

Jul 26 2008 5:13 AM

I have been away from Myspace for a while, because I had been painting until last week. This was the end of one year and 3 months of intense 15 hours work days, 7 days a week.
I painted 10 large canvasses, and I'm really excited with the result!

This is a pic of painting number 10 that I finished last week. It's still untitled. The photo doesn't really show the intensity of the several orange and gold colors. I also used lot's of gold and golden glitter This one is my favorite. It really looks spectacular, when one sees it live.
Acrylic on Canvas ( 72in x 48in / 1m83 x 1m21 )

"Untitled" by Aissata, (click on any image to see more paintings)

I hope all is well with you. Stay strong and inspired.

Spread Love!

Come out and have a tasty deli sandwich with me to benefit the Pandas at Wolong Reserve which was right near the epicenter of the recent Chinese Earthquake Disaster and badly damaged.

Just a reminder the Fundraiser for Pandas International at Isaac's (beside the Hbg Mall) is this Sunday from 5-9pm.

Anyone interested in coming will need to bring Isaac's donation form otherwise it won't count. Hit me up with your email address and I will send it to you.

You can come and have dinner anytime between 5 and 9 or you can even do take out if you don't have the time. I'd greatly appreciate anyone that can come and feel free to bring friends and family.

And another reminder the profits not only go to the pandas but also to victims of the earthquakes!

Pandas International supports panda nature reserves in their native China through medical research, breeding programs, veterinary care, medicine and medical equipment.
You can research the organization and their efforts at www. pandasinternational. org

How can you not want to support this?

The Thing With Two Heads

May 27 2008 3:20 PM

June 7th at the Maennerchor in beautiful downtown HBG, The Thing With Two Heads will unleash a stack of records so utterly twisted that you'll be stuffing your brains back in your head via your ears for a month!

We'll be spinning the platters in a room that was originally a church from the 1920s, and we'll be projecting some WYLD vintage movies on a giant screen behind the bar. WHOA! This place is incredible!

Admission is 5 clams, but the drinks are CHEAP!
