Formed in Timisoara, Romania, as NU. The sound is a mix between traditional sounds/lines, improvised vocals and spacy electronics. Visual component is also important, during concerts. Influences are to be found in both Romanian and Asian folk music as well as in German 'krautrock'. The band toured Germany twice, in 2006, under the name NU, promoting the cd 'At Gardina'. NU's music has been airplayed at radios like WFMU or Freies Radio Kassel, among others... After some changes and studio work, NU 'reincarnated' as NU & APA NEAGRA and released an official album, at Lollipopshop label, from Germany...The tracks have been recorded both in Berlin, Germany and Timisoara, Romania.
'NU' means 'NO', in Romanian and it has nothing to do with the english word 'new'...also, APA NEAGRA means 'THE BLACK WATER'...
In 2006 Lollipopshop label has released the Eastern Space Cakes compilation, where NU participates with the song "Ezaro" from the self-released CD-r At Gardina (which can be bought through this website).
Also, in 2008, Lollipopshop Label has released NU & APA NEAGRA's OMAG album.
