MONOTONIX Saturday 28th November Nice n Sleazys, Glasgow
The release of their new album tops off a whirlwind year of touring, the infamy surrounding their charged live perfomances steadily mounting. Rightly so, check out this youtube link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmEHu-QAgNE&feature=related - and marvel at one of the typically unpredictable gigs of the band that Spin have declared the "most exciting live band in rock'n'roll."

Review: "Don Goliath's "Bagstep EP" (DDR030) is one of those innovative EPs showcasing how versatile Dubstep can get. The unique idea of creating Dubstep versions of celctic (Irish as well as Scottish) folk classics for all you drunkards longing to sing along was Don Goliath's motto when producing this madness. The concept is as simple as effective: he picked 4 of your grandpa's favourites such as "Old Skibbereen", "Scotland the Brave", "Drunken Sailor" and "Amazing Grace" having the melody played by a definitly non-sober Bagpipe section and then layering it with lofi mid range wobbleism - we therefor call it Bagstep. Overall production quality is high grade with that intense sub focus so you can blow-dry your hair right in front of the bass bins. Now let's get into the tunes: "Skibbereen Bagstep" is one of the melancolic minor tunes expressing Irish history as it is. It is an unmixable 3/4 waltz beat at unusual 154bpm, well dancebal though when one moves to the triplets. "Bagstep the brave" should be one of the sickest rebuilds of the Scottish national anthem making it Mel Gibson's signature tune if he had one. "Drunken Bagstep" is a Glitchfest version of the sailors anthem capable of getting you uberdrunk by listening alone, Arrrr! "Amazing Bagstep" is as religious as it gets making it a tune that'll certainly safe xamounts of lost souls. Enjoying the dancefloor got even easier now: drink out the bar, make your skirt fly and sing along to these (future) classics! Some will hate this release and some will love it, there barely is anything in between. All Dubstep Division crew salutes the latter as our fellow beerheadz! cheeeeeerz!"

Electropapknit are pleased to announce that we are back with a new club night featuring amazing bands from Wednesday 4 November 2009!!!
As a new night in the now long gig history of Electropapknit shows, we thought we had to come up with an apt name that put across what we are about: great bands, cheap prices and bloody good times.
Therefore the new clubnight will be called Panda Panda Panda!
Based at the Glasgow School of Art, door entry with be £3 with cheap drink deals on shots at £1, pints £1.50 and vodka mix £1.50.
We are very excited about the first night in November as it features three of our favourite most excellent bands from Glasgow:
Vom - mind bending apocalypse space rock, with a nod to the lounge effect that might just melt you! This aggression won't stand, man!
The Ballad of Mable Wong - jangled up bloody alt fun, with progressive and decadent melodies released by sharp guitar crunch, Sexy!
Mr Peppermint - former Hyena megasexuals, with swooning noise vox and tub thumping rhythms. Killer riffs on one side, masks in the other!

KING KHAN AND THE SHRINES Sun 4th Oct @ Stereo, Glasgow
We have just added ##THE BLACK RAT DEATH SQUAD## to the bill
Support comes from Jack of Hearts Uncle Big Bad
"Fusing the driving stomps of classic sixties soul with the muddy yet crunchy guitars and puerile words of garage rock, King Khan & The Shrines are one of those uncommon groups who seem to live in the past and still make an attention-grabbing noise. The Supreme Genius is a retrospective of their work this century from initial 45s through to the cleaner more sophisticated efforts of their last proper album, What Is?!. Soul is certainly a key ingredient in the Shrine's psychedelic stew, though purists would balk at describing the end product as one of their own ('filthy racket' being the likely response). Fans of the 'rock 'n' soul' pedigree stretching from the Kingsmen to The Make Up and The Black Lips, however, should be more accepting, as will anyone who likes their music loud and raucous" BBC Music
