Hi, this is Punks Jump Up, one of them is called Joe and the other one's David. Joe likes cherries, ice cream, big bottomed girls and sunsets. David is into cheesecake, blueberries, ginger haired girls & ghosts.
They are making music and also playing records really loud in public places like clubs. They started out
arranging parties in east London in 2002 and began making music shortly after that, mainly because they
thought there weren't enough tunes around that sounded like what they wanted to hear at the time.
The first 12" came out in 2004 and is called Be You (Beep Beep) they put it out on their own label Cassette Records.
In 2007 they released their second 12" called Dance To Our Disco on the Kitsune label in Paris.
Lots & lots of remixes followed, one was Gossip - Listen Up another one was Pogo by Digitalism and then there
were also Robyn's number one UK single - With Every Heartbeat, Peter Bjorn & John - Young Folks, Yelle - A Cause Des Garcons, Remi Nicole -
Go Mr Sunshine & Lykke Li - Breaking it Up plus about 15 more...
There are 2 new remixes coming out soon (they are finished) of Peter Bjorn & John - Lay It Down and Those Dancing
Days - S/T, and a future remix to watch out for is a remix of Azzazza track by Zongamin. Yeeiiii!
Punks Jump Up have been playing all over Europe the last couple of years and visited places like Germany, Mexico,
Turkey, France, Spain, Lithuania, Belgium, Italy, Finland, Greece, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway etc etc
They've played alongside quite a few people, can't remember them all but some of them were 2 Many Djs, Erol Alkan, SebastiAn, Busy P, Crookers, Joakim.
They also did a 2 week German Levi's tour with MSTRKRFT & Shit Disco, fueled by Jagermeister jaaaa.
Also a Kitsune UK tour with Digitalism and Beni from Australia among a few.
PJU are quite chuffed to have met all these people and have had their pictures taken with most of them to show their family.
They're in their studio in London, W11, working most of the time when they're not out traveling. Now they're finishing
off new material, there has been loads & loads of music piling up over the last year, so much they don't know
what to do with it all... There will definitely be a few singles out in the next 6 months and an album to follow. There will
be lots of friends guest appearing on the album.
Once the album is out they will also start performing their music "live on stage", there will be lots of flashing lights and
a visual show designed by some cool artist
Oh, they got their own t shirt label as well, it's called Stiff Couture. They've released 3 t shirts so far, designed by Kate Moross,
European Animal & Jiro Bevis. There will be more, because t shirts are fun...!
