We're hesitant to list influences because it might let on that 1) we ripped off other bands or 2) we have horrible taste in music.
But here are some bands people have likened us to...even if we don't always agree Devo,
Weezer, The Killers, Ghostland Observatory, The Cars, maybe the Monkees; nothing like Vampire Weekend, The Bravery, New Order, The Jesus and Mary Chain, not really like The Pixies, possibly like Hot Chip, LCD Soundsytem, wish we were like Say Hi To Your Mom but not so much like U2 except their 80's albums, we are nothing like Bjork or Kimya Dawson, the exact opposite of the Pussycat Dolls, shockingly dissimilar to Britney Spears or Katy Perry and this concludes our search engine optimization.
Sounds Like
Here are some sounds we would like to emulate.
Jesus and Mary Chain guitar, feedback and distortion. This seems to be en vogue again and I am all for it. If one can learn to play feedback rather than just let it happen it is a skill
The drums should fall in a wierd place between punk and old blues. That would be cool.
The synth sounds incorporate vintage square and saw waves with pipe organs for a full sound that hits just about every resonance possible. And speaking of resonance we run a bunch of different filters and LFOs on the synth to create all kinds of complimentary and lead sounds.
Finally, all the above is a pretentious wish list that may never quite pull together, but its good to have goals.

Puppetbox is a band. They are currently under the radar. In fact, both the radar and the band are unaware of each other. The band plays electro, rock, shoegazer, geek, pop music - and the radar continues to serve as a metaphor for bands that have made lots of money versus those that will forever be "emerging." The band is made up of John Payne(guitar/vox), Katie Johnston(vox/accordion/kazoo), Chris Tempas(synth/programming), and Mark Annotto(drums).
From a hamlet nestled on the corner shores of Brooklyn, Puppetbox has honed its sound to create beguiling pop melodies, but with a distinctive buzzy synth/guitar sound. Following a successful EP, Puppetbox released their eponymous album which expanded their songwriting to include array of styles and genres. The album, Runtime_Error! features songs ranging from hard electro-rock to infectious dance; the album moves relentlessly forward and includes shockingly original instrumentals all mixed seamlessly together into a gapless album.
The band's goal is to make songs that they would love to listen to – and they only listen to music that is awesome.
REVIEWS:
"Everybody needs “Puppetbox”. In a word, genius." Cowboy Cantor
"Puppetbox is the sort of band that makes you sit up and pay attention. Whether it’s the mix of electronic and organic (though still electric) instrumentation, the kazoos or the threat of total domination of the masses, there’s something special about this Brooklyn quartet. " - wildysworld.blogspot.com
"There are few bands like Puppetbox...they are prolific songsters of the first order and I can’t go a day without listening to their unique synth geek pop rock (pop rocks?) thing that they do. Interviewing Puppetbox was not quaint or charming - it was hilarious!.. They are also nominees for IRM Best Independent Artist 2009 Award!"—InternetRadioMagazine.com
"The vocals shine the most on Everything, a more pop oriented song, with a catchy chorus and a distinctive retro sound. This is by far the best and most fun song on the album. If you only listen to one Puppetbox song, this is definitely the one you have to hear." - Andrea Guy, community.livejournal.com/mossip/
"I urge your ears to listen to this cut "Kill You Dead"
I sincerely hope to hear more from these guys." - prettymuchamazing.com
"The song "Kimberly" reminds me a lot of old Weezer, say Blue era gone synthy. Especially the lyrics "You look like you could be much fun/you smell like bubblegum." Now this is a good thing." - Dreamsofhorse.blogspot.com
"I like the mix of rock and elctro sounds here. good guitar licks, and nice changes. fun and poppy, but still dark and geeky." redfizz.com
"This track (Kimberley) is pure fun!" - indiedontdance.blogspot.com
"Just call that song all kinds of f**ked up" - music critic, Brian
Below is the hilarious new music video for our song KILL YOU DEAD! This was from the twisted minds of the comedy group, Armed & Ridiculous. One reviewer said this: The video for “kill you dead” is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. I wish I were different too.
