Bio:

.. quattrocelli – das sind die vier Cellisten Lukas Dreyer, Michael Peternek, Matthias Trück und Hartwig Christ auf ihrem virtuosen Weg abseits des musikalischen Mainstreams. Ganz gleich ob Klassik, Jazz, Latin oder Filmmusik: Das Publikum ist stets begeistert, wenn die vier Herren ihre Celli auspacken und loslegen. Denn sie musizieren nicht nur hervorragend, sondern bestechen durch eine Bühnenshow voller Humor, Charme und Unterhaltung.

Begonnen hat alles 1997, noch zu Studienzeit. Ein Stipendium der „Friedrich-Jürgen-Sellheim-Gesellschaft“ half bei den nächsten Schritten und bald kamen Produktionen für Radio und Fernsehen hinzu. Seit 2004 spielt das Quartett in der Besetzung Lukas Dreyer, Michael Peternek, Matthias Trück und Hartwig Christ.



Nach Einladungen zu Festspielen wie dem „Rheingau Musik Festival“ erfolgte 2004 die erste von mehreren Tourneen in die USA mit inzwischen über 80 Konzerten in den landesweiten „Community Concert Series“. Seit 2006 steht auch China auf der Reiseroute.

Die Musik von quattrocelli wird eigens für das Ensemble arrangiert und komponiert. Dabei greifen die vier Musiker entweder selbst zur Feder oder arbeiten mit namhaften Komponisten zusammen. Unverwechselbar ist der Sound des Ensembles, denn kein anderes Instrument aus der Familie der Streicher kann von der kraftvollen Tiefe bis zum reinsten Sopran so viele unterschiedliche Töne hervorbringen wie das Cello. Bei quattrocelli kommt hinzu, dass jeder alles spielt, von der Begleitung über romantische Kantilenen bis hin zu atemberaubenden Soli.

Seit ihrer Gründung haben quattrocelli mit Partnern wie dem NDR und Radio Bremen fünf CDs eingespielt und ihre musikalische Vielseitigkeit dokumentiert. In seinen nächsten CD-Projekten wird das Ensemble sich thematischen Schwerpunkten widmen. So ist nach der aktuellen CD mit Filmmusik das nächste spannende Projekt bereits in Vorbereitung: die Musik Amerikas.

quattrocelli is four cellists Lukas Dreyer, Michael Peternek, Matthias Trück and Hartwig Christ, following their own virtuoso path away from the musical mainstream. Whether it's classical, jazz, latin or film scores, audiences seem to love the unorthodox style and panache of these classically trained young musicians. As well as producing great music, audiences are sure to be captivated by their energy, passion and, most importantly, amused by their on stage antics!

It all began in 1997 at university. A grant from the Friedrich Jürgen Sellheim Society helped get things started with radio and TV performances soon following. The group in its present formation - Lukas Dreyer, Michael Peternek, Matthias Trück and Hartwig Christ - has been playing together since 2004.

After invitations to festivals such as the Rheingau Music Festival, the group went on the first of many US tours in 2004, with over 80 appearances in the Community Concert Series to date. In 2006 they embarked on a tour of China.

quattrocelli's music is specially arranged and composed for the ensemble. The four musicians produce their own music as well as collaborating with other well-known composers. The group's sound is unmistakable, as no other instrument in the violin family of string instruments apart from the cello can produce such a wide tonal range, from powerful bases to clear sopranos. Each member of the group is extremely versatile: they can play anything from accompaniment over romantic cantilenas to awe-inspiring solos.

Since their foundation, quattrocelli has recorded five CDs with broadcasters such as NDR (North German Broadcasting) and Radio Bremen. Their next few recordings will focus on particular themes. For example, their current CD concentrates on film music, while their next exciting project is already underway: the music of America.
