Rachael Davis has been singing on-stage since she was two years old. Being born to parents who never intended to keep her very far from music for very long seems to have made all the difference in the world. Before she could walk Rachael would be set in a car seat and placed in the middle of a song circle, and with silver bells on her ankles she would shake her feet to the rhythm. At one-and-a-half Rachael was singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" to anyone who asked, and at two she started performing with her parents on stage.
In September of 2001, Rachael moved to Boston and within the span of seven months was awarded a Boston Music Award for Best New Singer-Songwriter.
Her influences range from the jazz stylings of Ella Fitzgerald to the soulful pop vocals of Patty Griffin -- with many more in between. She is a contemporary songwriter but is equally at home singing anything from traditional ballads to Cole Porter to Joe Henry.
Rachael now lives in Bath, Michigan and is expecting the next record and a little baby this summer...

Hey everybodies! Lots of folks have been asking for a picture of the next banjo player in our household. Here's the new babe, Virgil Ryman Davis. He was born on a Wednesday, the 29th of August and wasn't too big or loud. We love him like the dickens! Needless to say he'll be accompanying us wherever we go for a while, so if you see us you'll see him! Thanks for the all the words of encouragement and wisdom!

Great to hear you sing one with Jen on Friday! Never had a chance to say hello, but I hope all is well, and I look forward to the next concert I can make. Best wishes!
Rachael! Hi! Guess what?! I got to open for the Asylum Street Spankers and the sound man recorded my set. So I entered a song from that show in a contest. Check it out! Here is a cut and paste from an email I received last week.
"Dear Chris, The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) has announced its finalists today. Congratulations, the song "Spotless" that you entered in Comedy/Novelty has been selected as a finalist.
Being selected an ISC finalist is an accomplishment that acknowledges true songwriting talent. With only 287 finalists chosen out of over 15,500 entrants, this is an extraordinary achievement, and we are very pleased to offer our congratulations."
Are you kidding me?!!! I couldn't believe it! You should check out some of the judges. Tom Waits! Rob Thomas! Sandra Bernhard! Weird Al! KT Tunstall! David Brenner! Ray Davies! Loretta Lynn! The list goes on and on! Billy Harvey won this for the Rock category in 2005 for "Frozen Through".
So if you go to this link http://www. songwritingcompetition. com/PVWelcome2008. htm and click "listen to the finalist songs and vote", you can vote for my song!! It's called "Spotless". They are in alphabetical order so it's kinda down there. (Near the S's!)
You have to enter your email and then open a verifying return email to vote but you only do that once and then you can vote once a day till March 31st. Help me get a respectable turnout! You know you need the good Karma!
