Ralph Zurmuhle is originally from Switzerland. He holds a Science of Law degree from the University of Zurich. He lived in Barcelona during the past ten years and moved to Tucson (Arizona) in April of 2009, where he currently resides. At the early age of five Ralph discovered his natural talent for the piano and began private lessons. He studied classical music and jazz until the age of twenty.
In 1986 he began to compose music for film, theater and multimedia. His most recent projects are:
All Secrets, feature film (Edinburgh, 2008), L'horitzó, multimedia exhibit (Metrònom, Barcelona, and International Biennial of Contemporary Art, Almería, Spain, 2006), Norró, documentary (National Spanish TV, 2006).
Ralph's 3 CDs composed for piano have been met with critical acclaim. His first solo CD for piano Between was released in 2000. He followed that initial release with Communion in 2003 and Our Mother in 2007.
He has performed many solo piano concerts throughout Spain, either playing his own repertoire or, on special occasions, purely improvising. In 2005 he composed the score for several classical silent movies by Buñuel, Clair, Man Ray, Duchamp etc. and performed live for the New music for classic silent films series at the Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM), one of Spain's most prestigious contemporary art museums.

"An incredible pianist who understands the power of simplicity, Zurmuhle conveys a wide range of emotions, allowing open spaces to be almost as expressive as the notes themselves." Kathy Parsons, www.mainlypiano.com (see full review in the blog)
"Ralph Zurmühle certainly is a master of his art. His CDs are remarkably consistent, maintaining an impeccably high standard from beginning to end." Stephen Cairns, www.piano-heaven.co.uk. (see full review in the blog)

Your music Ralph, so tenderly touches the heart and the loveliness of Spain ... Her majestic mountains rugged and proud. The falls bursting with life into flowing streams. The misty clouds bathe the spirit. I truly have never seen such beauty represented so wonderfully of Spain before. I had no idea of her beauty. Deserving of recognition With great admiration for all, Maricet
Hello Ralph !!,...Thank you very much for the video, the music accompanies perfectly the beautiful images of our Pyrenees. All the best to you. Happy Halloween !! A strong embrace from Spain. Horacio V

Hello Ralph, I hope we see you in AZ. We could bring the Christmas show to Tuscon if you had an idea of who might be willing to host it? We have dates on Sunday Dec. 20th. Other wise you might want to come up to see us in Scottsdale. We are trying to plan were to stay for Christmas. Maybe the Grand Canyon. Touring this time of year is strange.
We are also going to go for sure to Europe in May. This time we really want to go to Barcelona. Any idea's?
