I was born in Terre Haute, Indiana and began singing at the age of five and won my first talent contest. I think my victory had a lot to do with the fact that I quit singing after one line, and told the master of ceremonies that the microphone was too high for me. Even at that young age I was concerned about being heard. From that day on I appeared at every event that needed a little guy to sing a song or two. At fifteen I formed my first band and we played at dances, community events and social clubs throughout western Indiana and eastern Illinois. After graduating Garfield High School I enlisted in the US Air Force, was sent to the High Desert in southern California and stationed at George Air Force Base. I formed my second band, “The Randy Andrew Trio” and worked at local clubs until I was discharged from the service. In the 1970s… “FREEWAY” was born and lasted a decade appearing in cities across the nation from New York to California… South Dakota to Texas and the gambling circuits of Nevada. During the bands run, Freeway recorded two record albums and performed in almost every State in the country. Returning to the High Desert I was honored to be named “Honorary Mayor” of Apple Valley, California, host a daily radio talk show and appear locally as well as Palm Springs, Los Angeles and Vegas. I was cast in a revue called “L.A. Strut” and spent the next six years on the stages of Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe. The 1990s brought me back to California where I become involved in television, recording CDs and entertaining as a solo performer. I married the love of my life, Linda in 1997. I still do concerts and appear throughout southern California. I recently celebrated my 50th year in show business…. It’s been a long time since my stage debut when the microphone was too high.
