Nicholas Furlong, better known as RAS was born into a musical family. His mother dabbled in musical arts while his father, who was a singer, songwriter, and guitar player, had made a career of working in the industry. At age 9, RAS began his musical foray when he began to write and record his own songs.
RAS started out writing original songs for video game soundtracks at the young age of 16. He was heard on the soundtracks of NBA Ballers, Blitz: The League, and NBA Ballers: Phenom, where his original song "Raise Up" was featured as the title track of the game. By age 18, he had generated interest as an up-and-coming songwriter in the industry.
After writing on several independent international projects, RAS caught his first break in 2007 with Australian pop star Cristian Alexanda's single, "Won't Let You Go", which he wrote and arranged. Shortly after, he arrived in Los Angeles, California.
It was then that RAS had progressed by perfecting his craft as a not only a songwriter, but as a producer, vocal producer, and engineer. By 2009, RAS was writing with many of today's biggest and upcoming Pop, R&B, and Rock artists, songwriters, and producers, including Ryan Tedder, J.R. Rotem, Brian Kennedy, Aaron Pearce, Beau Dozier, Tommy Coster Jr., RADIO, Jukebox, Andre Merritt, BC Jean, The Jackie Boyz, Steph Jones, Troy Taylor, Travis Garland, DRAMA Beats, and Shep Soloman, to name a few.
Now, the 23 year old songwriter and producer is most recently associated with his well-known ballad "Derailed" in Germany by Pop superstars, No Angels. RAS, shortly before working with the group, signed his worldwide publishing deal with Kobalt Music (www.kobaltmusic.com) as well as his exclusive deal with ASCAP (www.ascap.com) early in 2009. He continues to be creative and promises that this is still only the beginning. There are plenty more musical creations to come from this young innovative songwriter and producer, as he has only just begun creating the history of a musical genius.
