Ratarue is more concerned with content than industry driven image, with the goal to provide the listener with the same kind of feeling received when younger. Ratarue emulates what is now considered an old school style, although, always trying to innovate and push the envelope. Raised on the greats like Tribe Called Quest, and all relevant artists in the Conscience Hip Hop movement, Ratarue makes his music because of the lack of conscience present in today’s global music industry.
Ratarue’s debut, full length, 18 song album entitled Odd Augmentation Inc. will be coming out in the Fall of 2009. Odd Augmentation, Inc took 5 years in the making and consists of varying topics ranging from abstract, lyrical, political to issues of love and loss. This album is the artist’s insane gasping for air and screaming out trying to not be seen as just another ant in the colony. His lyrical style is layered with intellectual and creative content which paints pictures and invites the listener to get lost in the songs.
Ratarue’s current projects include not only Odd Augmentation Inc. ,but also Tantrum Tapes which is a mix tape CD given free to deserving fans. His main focus is being one of the front men and rapping in Spin Alley, a band that is a mix of Hip Hop, Rock, and Punk music. Spin Alley’s debut album “Victims” has recently been voted as the best album of the year by Austin360.com. Spin Alley tours extensively which keeps Ratarue busy, but he can be seen frequenting local Hip Hop functions when time permits. He enjoys free styling and considers it an art and a craft. Ratarue will be the only rapper guest appearing on Heavy Hitta’s (Universal Records) upcoming album due out at the end of this year. In keeping with his efforts and embodiment of Hip Hop as not only a culture, but also a means of hustle, he is currently making entrepreneurial efforts, selling beats and has a clothing upstart, still in its planning stages.
