Rattletrap consists of four friends who've found common ground around many a campfire and front porch. Matthew McElroy, on fiddle & vocals, and Tim Peacock, on banjo & vocals, have been making music together for over twelve years. Completing the Rattletrap sound is Thom Hirbe on bass fiddle and, newest member, Woody Pines on the guitar and vocals. McElroy is a devout understudy of the old-time sound and a serious collector of 78 rpm records. He has recorded with the great Irish fiddler Kevin Burke & the band Patrick Street, among others. Woody is a founding member of the widely know New Orleans based band, The Kitchen Syncopators and brings a wide range of hillbilly songs and ragtime blues to the table. Peacock has been a student of the clawhammer banjo since the mid-90's after stumbling into the Appalachian Stringband Festival known as Clifftop. He has studied with the great West Virginia banjo master Dwight Diller. Thom has been a lifelong member of the rhythm section in various bands. He keeps solid time, while driving Rattletrap's infectious sound.
Old-time music is very much alive and well. From street corners and beer joints, to festivals, square dances and theatres, Rattletrap has played them all.
"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
It's the very first episode of INTERGALACTIC and it's the first thing me and Morgan have ever acted in. It's a work in progress. I learn as I go. It's a great start though. We had a lot of fun and will be putting more stuff out soon. Maybe next time we'll have a script.
I fucking find it HILARIOUS!!!! I'm so proud of how bad it sucks. I hate introductions... I can't just start killing people. Maybe next time... maybe next time.
