Jezebel Feature show on Thursday, April 17!! Here's a fun interview:
:::::::::::::::::::::
Below is from our live performance of General Lafayette and Archways on WOXY Radio in Cincinnati.
We all met when we were forced to ride through a haunted house in the same trolly. By the end of the ride we had written and recorded our first 7''. We were called Lost at Sea for the first year until the record company asked what it meant. Now we're Ravens and Chimes.
Reviews and Press:
Asher just got interviewed for the last issue of 'V Magazine'! Check it out:
"The New York-based quintet sounds like a more confident Bright Eyes or maybe a folksier version of Wolf Parade (minus their anthemic song structure leanings). They're pretty darn cool and they're hitting the spot right about now." - Nik Mercer / BibaBidi
"Ravens and Chimes are about to unleash their debut album ‘Reichenbach Falls’ on the world and the world better fasten its seatbelt. Like any self-respecting whippersnappers Ravens and Chimes fly out of the traps with unbridled energy creating a sound that is both spontaneous and full of fresh thinking." - Mp3Hugger
"... their indie pop folk rock, like a younger, peppier Bishop Allen influenced by Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen ... displays a maturity that is a bit of a surprise. Perhaps their devotion to their influences has led them to play more from the heart." - 3hive
"NYU [certainly has] the market cornered on wistful songs about streets around campus." - New York Magazine
"Reichenbach Falls encompasses the raw quality of youth in a split open-heart combination of first lust, disappointment and self-doubt. Songs like ‘St. Jude in the Village' and ‘Eleventh Street' don't push the melodrama of teen angst, but lay out the band's effervescent spirit. Highly Recommended!" - IndieSurfer
"Lead vocalist Asher Lack has great range, and knows When to inflect and when to back away. Musically, there are no real hooks here. No particular instrument stands out, in fact. They all seem to meld together into a single organism, turning and tangled together in twisty tunes, creating a signature sound like no other I’m familiar with." - Berkley Place
"Ravens and Chimes ... sweeten your blood with every listen." - URB Magazine
"Ravens And Chimes [kicked off their tour] at Union Pool. The six member ensemble could barely fit on the small stage at the club, and the sound was a little muddy ... [but] it didn’t stop the beautiful, unique chimes from the xylophone, the sweet sound of the flute, or the aggressive tossing of a tambourine around the stage." - CMJ
"frenzied chatter in the blogosphere has tagged them as the next next Arcade Fire." - Spin.com
"Reichenbach Falls is one of the most charming debuts of 2007, a music that distinguishes itself not by the originality of its features but by its sheer fresh-facedness." - Sean Michaels / Said the Gramophone

yo asher, dudes! i just watched the interview you have on the page. funny stuff! i like bands that are funny... and scary. but you can be scary on the next record. Also I demand more mustaches. We'll talk..
Righteous Music! I got your cd last november and am in love with your sound! I been trying to get people in Canada to hear you guys! Will you tour here soon?
Hey guys, first of all I love your music! Second I..m going to New York in beginning of june, so I..m wondering if you will be having any konserts there during the month???
that was a great performance on Fearless Music. Why not claim Built To Spill or The Pixies or the Talking Heads as influences? Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen are two of my favorite singer/songwriters, I'm sure they are two of yours too, but I think you are doing something more as a band and more avant-garde and less folky. why not just embrace that? anyways, that's just my own washerwoman-yappering, y'all were excellent and unique and intriguing. thanks for letting me enjoy your art.
I hope you guys are doing alright on your tour, just wanted to express my thanks again for the most unbelieveable concert last Friday. Dickinson College will not forget you, and neither will I!!! Love you guys.
Hey, I loved your performance Friday at Dickinson College, as in the front row. I've never ehard your music before, but I can now say that I am a devoted fan! Love you guys, Later
