Sounds Like
Well...it's acoustic and maybe a little folky but not enough to hurt. I guess it's a lot like Kris Kristofferson and Tom T. Hall met Steve Earle and they were walking down the street and heard Jon Dee Graham playing guitar so they stood outside the club and thought "Wow, that fucker's really good. Let's steal some of his easier guitar licks" So they did. Then they all went home and fell asleep with the radio on and the radio played some really tasty Jayhawks and Robert Earle Keen but then woke up as a storm was blowing in and the shutters were banging away on the windows and there was some nasty John Fogarty blasting away with old school CCR. They turned off the AM radio and wrote a song.
A large man with a large voice, Ravin' Dave Lykins writes songs about the world in small pieces. His style of songwriting is to take an angular view of the familiar and present it with more passion than flat out anger. From the bureaucratic nightmare of post-Katrina indifference in "Houston" and the personalized look at a left-over veteran in "Greetings from the Riviera" to the wry twist on the breakup tune in the award winning "Here's Your Love Song (take it and go)".
Lykins is also known as an actor and a playwright in Chicago. He has performed with burlesque troupes Belmont Burlesque and Lavender Cabaret as half of the musical comedy team Yeater & Lykins. Along with Jim Yeater, Dave co-wrote, produced and starred in the critically acclaimed Baker & Huff in the spring of 2006.

Hey..Heard about this wild and crazy night...Sounds like the old days...without me:( I'll let ya know if I ever come down that way. From the looks of the pictures it looked like a good time. Take care!! Friggin
Ditto. My son had a great time. For me it brought back a lot of cool memories. I remember when you called me up on stage and we did one of my songs. A LONG time ago. Maybe if the two of us ever get enough time in our busy schedules we could put something together and do a gig out here or something. I don't know, somethin' to think about. BTW - My son tried desperately to find the pick you tossed out into the crowd. He thought that you wanted him to have it and was kind of bummed that he couldn't find it! Take care and I'll talk to ya' soon.
Re: Two Way Street performance - There is a strong possibility that I will be somewhere in the back. Maybe front, more than likely though WAY in the back. Just do not call me up on stage like you did twenty-two years ago. Back then I had some material, and now? Well, I suppose I could go up there and rant about global warming or something. See you there. RDP,SR.
Shapoopie! Shapoopie! Shapoopie! The girl who's hard to get ... have you ever seen Family Guy where Peter Griffin sings the song? Oh my gosh, Dave ... the image of you as Marcellus is pretty great ...
I got to do the whole "One Grecian Urn ...now trickle ... trickle, trickle, trickle ..."
