My favorite style is Progressive Rock (yes, I'm a dinosaur)--Jethro Tull, Yes, Hatfield and the North, Soft Machine, Robert Wyatt, Caravan, Gentle Giant, Porcupine Tree, National Health, King Crimson, Frank Zappa and tons of others... but I really like practically anything. I love film music, especially the work of Ennio Morricone, Bernard Herrmann, John Barry, Nino Rota, and many others...
Movies
Directors: Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Ingmar Bergman, Woody Allen, David Lynch, Martin Scorsese, Terrence Malick, Robert Altman, Francois Truffaut, Billy Wilder, David Lean, Michael Curtiz, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Coen Brothers, Tim Burton, Federico Fellini, Akira Kurosawa, John Woo, and many others...
Television
Twin Peaks; The Sopranos; Six Feet Under; Monty Python's Flying Circus; Fawlty Towers; SCTV; Slings and Arrows; The Prisoner; Star Trek (original series); Firefly; Cracker; The Girls Next Door; Dexter; Jonny Quest; The Dick Van Dyke Show...many more...
Books
My favorite living author is Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine; naturally I have a fondness for Ian Fleming; but to name the numerous other fiction authors I enjoy here would be a disservice to my many friends in the writing business! I'm an active member of International Thriller Writers Inc., Mystery Writers of America, the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers, and ASCAP...
Here's a trailer for the Italian edition of my novel SWEETIE'S DIAMONDS, published in Italy by Alacran Edizioni! (PS--The music you hear was composed by me over ten years ago...!)

Heroes
Sad to say there's never been an American President in my lifetime that I would call a hero. Any person who dons a uniform and serves our country is a hero, whether one agrees with the conflict or not. Most of my "heroes" are entertainers and artists because they are the people who influence and excite me. Of course the real heroes in my life are my parents and my family...
About me:
I'm primarily an author of fiction. Between 1996 and 2002 I wrote six original James Bond 007 novels, three film novelizations, and three short stories—all published worldwide. Two stories and excerpts from some of the novels were published in six issues of PLAYBOY Magazine. THE JAMES BOND BEDSIDE COMPANION was published in 1984 and was nominated for an Edgar.
As “David Michaels” I was the author of the NY Times best-sellers TOM CLANCY’S SPLINTER CELL and TOM CLANCY’S SPLINTER CELL—OPERATION BARRACUDA. My recent original thrillers are FACE BLIND, EVIL HOURS, and SWEETIE’S DIAMONDS. Oh, and I also wrote a little book about the band JETHRO TULL.
My latest novel is a "rock 'n' roll thriller" entitled A HARD DAY'S DEATH, in stores now. The sequel, DARK SIDE OF THE MORGUE, will be published March 2009. My novel based on Konami's best-selling videogame, METAL GEAR SOLID, was published in May. An anthology of some of my 007 novels, entitled THE UNION TRILOGY, was published in October '08.
I'm also a musician and composer, was once a computer game designer (see my website for titles I did), and at one time spent my waking hours directing theatre.
Other stuff--I'm a Goodwill Ambassador for Kagawa Prefecture in Japan. The government erected a permanent museum in my honor to celebrate my James Bond novel THE MAN WITH THE RED TATTOO because much of it takes place there. THE 007 MAN WITH THE RED TATTOO MUSEUM is located on Naoshima Island. You can read about it here.
Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my new erotic horror novel THE 13TH is now in stores everywhere! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride!
There's even a website devoted just to the book, with an interactive map of the places and characters at www.the13th-horror.com.
Edward Lee called THE 13TH "A double-barreled shotgun blast of macabre entertainment -- an expert amalgamation of grotesquerie, eroticism, mystery, and pitch-black occult horror that no fan of the genre can miss."
And Gary A. Braunbeck said, "John Everson's The 13th is the first out-and-out horror novel in a long while to actually scare the **** out of me while reading it. It's stylish, extremely well-written, filled with richly-drawn characterizations, and boasts a labyrinthine plot worthy of Umberto Eco. Trust me -- this one will fry your nerves and break your heart."

Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my 2nd horror novel SACRIFICE is now in stores everywhere, including Amazon.com! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride! Here are a couple reviews it's gotten so far:
“SACRIFICE is a full frontal assault on your senses. It is a dark, brutal, bloody and terribly frightening book. Everson went deep into some dark abyss to bring this book to the light of day.... I highly recommend SACRIFICE.” —Famous Monsters of Filmland
“John Everson manages in SACRIFICE to dispense buckets of blood, provide edgy perversity, and walk the tenuous tightrope of horror and sex without falling: It’s rather an amazing feat.” –Hell Notes
