I play the lever harp (Clarsach/Celtic harp) and have done for just over 15 years. Originally from Glasgow, I spent some time in New York and Belfast before moving to Liverpool in 2004. I compose and perform original compositions for lever harp with spoken-word and multi-media pieces. I often work in collaboration with other artists and musicians. In 2008 I composed the harp score to the new performance poem by Liverpool poet Eleanor Rees - Eliza and the Bear (text performed by Cathy Butterworth - first presented at the Chapter & Verse Literature Festival at The Bluecoat, Liverpool in October 2008). I also write plays, including - Danger: Hollow Sidewalk (Glasgow, The Arches 2006) and Last Child (Glasgow, The Arches 2001; NYC, HERE 2002) and poetry. I was recently made an Artist in Residence at Metal Liverpool for 2009/10 and am currently writing the text & score of a new performance to be unveiled in Spring/Summer 2010. Dear friends, I am playing a free gig at the beauteous Union Chapel, Islington this Saturday.
