Nearly 10 years have passed since two cousins (Uros Grahek - singer, guitarist and songwriter and Jernej Grahek - bass player) founded what is now the greatest Slovenian ska ensemble.
Back then Red Five Point Star started as a punk-rock trio, but soon started to mix a variety of sounds like reggae, ska, surf, etc. into the punk-rock basics and began searching for the original RFPS sound. The trio grew up to be a seven piece ensemble today, performing all over Slovenia and soon in their career they started showing tendencies towards doing shows abroad as well.
They first got recognized in 2001, when they signed up for national competition of bands and solo artists »Who will conquer Triglav?« and made it all the way to the finale among 149 performers. In 2002 followed the »Pick up ska 2002« tour through all major Slovenian clubs and also a compilation disc for the mentioned tour. Their songs also got on an all Balkan various artist album »Ska factor positive« and in 2005 they released their long awaited debut »In color« which was sold out by the end of 2006 and was followed by their second full length album »Stepping out« released in 2007, both released at one of the biggest Slovenian indie record labels - KAPA records.
During these years Red Five Point Star performed on stages in Slovenia, Croatia, France, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kosovo, Monte Negro, Bulgaria... They performed on all major festivals in Slovenia (Soca Reggae Riversplash (2003), Rock Otocec (2001, 2003)), Croatia (Viva la Pola, Seasplash), Serbia (Subotica Trenchtown Festival)... got invited to participate in Exchange tours 2006 and 2007, multicultural one month lasting tours through France and Balkan and also embarked on several solo tours through France, Slovenia, Croatia...
They were invited as an opening act for world’s famous bands in their genre such as The Toasters, New York ska – jazz ensemble, Royal Crown Revue, Fishbone, Ozomatli...
Red Five Point Star established themselves mostly because of their live shows, which are the outcome of an almost 10 year period of live performing and hundreds of live played concerts. They continue to produce unique songs - a mixture of ska, swing, rockabilly, modern jazz, Cuban rhythms and Brazilian music, still infused with a dose of a punk-rock attitude!
