Sticking a needle in the arm of Rock, Redshift is not for the faint of heart! This is the year for Redshift with its line up complete and ready to roll. This is high energy, relentless, heart pounding music with a live show to match. Just when you thought rock was dead, Redshift mainlines and revives it.
Hailing from the Washington, D.C.-area, Redshift has a sound of its own. Mixing 80's, 90's, and cutting edge rock and roll. It's not easily categorized but has that familiar modern rock sound. With pounding beats, heavy guitars, and soaring melodies, this music aims to push the envelope of today's traditional radio friendly rock.
Redshift records in seclusion at Mountainside Studios in the Pocono Mountains with master technician Rich Rescigno. "Into the Oblivion" was recorded in 2 sessions over about a week period influenced by the life experiences of Redshift. "Not Alone" from a prior recording was included in two horror movies, "The Beast In Me" and "Women's Studies". Songs from "Into the Oblivion" are currently being played on Local Lix on DC101. As a band, Redshift has grown leaps and bounds over the last few months, playing numerous weekly shows, driving to just about anywhere. Jagermeister is now a driving force for Redshift after accepting a sponsorship in May of ‘09. This is one of the many accomplishments granted to this hard working band. Redshift has opened for bands like Candlebox (Warner), Lifehouse (Dreamworks) and Thriving Ivory (Wind-Up Records) just to name a few. Not to mention Def Leppard and Poison! A five-track EP filled with high-energy, killer songs from local rockers Redshift. “White Devil” gets the heart pumping. “Curse of the Gills” is a driving lesson in chord progression and machine gun-like drumming. On “Take the Edge Off,” the band stretches its legs a little bit with soaring harmonies and a thundering bass line. One can only hope for a full-length from these guys in the near future.

Advocates of the “We have something to say, and we say it in an soaring, anthemic way” school of rock, Red Shift hail from my childhood stomping grounds of Washington, D.C., and these District boys bring out the powerful, catchy choruses on tunes like the U2-ish “Satellite” and “Into the Oblivion.” Lead guitarist Ron Cruz never missed a note, even though he was playing with a sprained finger, while guitarist/singer Jake Mimikos’ emotional vocals command attention. Drummer Shawn Battle provided vocal harmonies as well as beats, his rhythms ably buttressed by bassist Paulo Barrera. These guys are definitely worth keeping an eye on.

There is currently a search for two types of bands for record label consideration.
*** Note: PLEASE IDENTIFY IF YOU ARE IN GROUP 1 OR 2 IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR RESPONSE. Emails are being reviewed by different representatives.
1. A Pop/Rock/Commercial band with female lead. Band must consist of 2 guitars (Prefer both guitar players to be of lead caliber. However, one lead and one rhythm is acceptable), keyboard/piano, bass, and drums. Lead vocal, followed by backing vocals, in that order, is a plus as it relates to other members of the group. Average age of the band cannot exceed 28 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
2. A Modern Rock band with male lead. Must be a complete band but there are no prerequisites as it relates to the make up of the band. Average age of the band cannot exceed 23 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
