Bio
Reese Van Riper is truly a modern day legacy of a band that has a rich 87 year history. Its music has been passed on through one family's blood, sweat, and musical ability and morphed into its current form. The first generation of the band was founded by Reese Van Riper in 1924, and was eventually passed on to his godson, Richard Van Riper. Richard picked up the act in 1946 and advertised his project under his godfather's name, taking the band in the direction of boogie woogie, blues, and folk. Richard Van Riper finally closed the hood of his piano in 1973 to spend more time with his family. It wasn't until Richard Van Riper's godson Reese picked up the guitar and started banging on some keys that the music came alive again. Now, in it's third generation, Reese Van Riper (lead vocals, songwriter, guitar, slide, and harmonica) fronts the band, and is accompanied live by Matthew Kearns and Greg Infante. These two diverse musicians switch up playing the bass, harmonica, and drums. The latest line up of this timeless band has taken on the task of ensuring that the Reese Van Riper legacy lives on. The odds are in their favor due to the members' unique abilities to blur established boundaries of musical genres, and captivate audiences with their intense stage presence. Their new EP "2:53" is now available on iTunes http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/2-53-ep/id411509199 Also available is their album "Sleep Well Dolly" http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sleep-well-dolly/id338640447 -
