Retard Rainbow began in the summertime of 2k5. A place we worked at was having a musical showcase to celebrate them being in business for a number of years, so it was suggested that all of us who were not in bands at the time form a musical collective to open the show. No skill required, but you must be able to bring an amplified instrument. So it went down with a group of brave souls who rocked out unhindered at trying to accomplish anything but what existed at that moment. Then we decided on a lite metal riff that we would play with for our allotted 30 minutes. The original RR was $MattG, Mandy, Crockett, Chaz, Jason Nicks, Cuban Mike, Steve, Dennis, and some drunk girl on stage with us the night of the show. It was tits. So afterwards, Crockett went solo, and everything seemed doomed. So four of us decided to keep on rocken' out and then Cuban quit so it was just Jason, Mandy & Matt... they had a vision at the end of the second Retard Rainbow show to reinvent as the most awesome power trio in the world, drowning dolphins. dd totally destroyed. then dd went on a break. matt & mandy continued to jam for a while, exploring the realms of freeimprov, fashioning retard rainbow as lightning bolt 'lite' at the same time playing in the greatest cover band in the world, jerkapotamus. the last, most kick ass incarnation of rr is what plays here on the myspace.
all icons should be put in their place, all humble attempts should be smashed in the face, art is what you make it, once it leaves the brain your body fakes it.
